The way I see it, this is how we get fat people saying that being fat is totally fine and healthy and blah blah blah while they keel off at 40, because they think in their mind that they're the person who had enough and will change the future for the fatties or whatever...it's basic movie plot stuff that you would see from a beginning script writer lmfao

our parents didnt have the luxury of sitting around being critical of everything. They had too much to do. They truly weren't this analytical. Critical thinking, however, is only as good as the mind doing the thinking. Its not a magic button to fix all things. There is also an inherent problem with thinking too much and doing too little. The truth is that we sped past the balance into a life where all we do think critically about everything in the world while staring at it from a handheld device. We are losing our purpose of having and raising families and so we find new purpose in criticizing everything. Its no longer the critical thinking of not just blindly believing your history book in school or the news. This is a new era where we are analyzing every detail we have available about everything in the world and every one in the world. I don't believe as a species we were really designed for that. We will find a balance or will crumble like every other iteration of society.

A father can be a piece of whole crap and a woman can still maintain her dignity regarding him. When my husband makes normal mistakes in life in any way I make a good faith effort to work it out and try my best to still treat him with respect. How you conduct yourself is who you are. It doesn't matter what other people around you do. Look at how any person treats everyone around them. Thats who they are. Its just especially potent when it comes to parents. As an atheist I'll happily tell you: I don't know. Now here's the kicker - if you say a god, you don't know either, because god is not the same as knowledge. The difference is I don't need an answer, because I don't need to have an explanation for everything. I assume as a religious person you believe your god, created everything. It doesn't matter which god because they all created everything. Most atheists, who enter into this kind of pointless discussion with religious people, would rather say we don't know and wonder if scientific research will ever provide an answer, than stop trying to discover the answer because accepting "the answer to everything we don't know is god", means we'll never know how it happened. In the west, when the church had control of education, the "god did it" mentality was applied and we called it "the dark ages". When the church started losing it's control of education and scientific research became accepted, we learned that "god didn't do it", we called that "the enlightenment". Life for most people advanced at a snails pace throughout the dark ages, since the enlightenment it's hard to keep track of the advancements in our societies. The problem religion has is not a lack of evidence for god, although that's one hell of a problem, it's that the more we learn the fewer places are left where god can hide. IF we discover how inanimate physical matter becomes self aware, will that cause you to stop believing in a god? No, of course not. You'll do what religions have been doing for millenia, you'll move the goalposts, and come up with a new seemingly unprovable thing and create a new place for god to hide.
