Bullshit, she was an escort from Port jefferson in her 20's and is not familiar with Massapequa I call double bullshit ? And Gilgo Beach is not as close to Massapequa as she makes it appear to be. Her story make no sense at all and why did she never call the tip line that was posted all over Long Island? She said she cant remember how to get home where she lives for 5 years without a gps but you remember a date a decade ago and specific information about that date along with the conversation and not to mention she was using.Oh and you dont want to bring up your past but you go on CNN and do multiple interviews bragging about it? The part of the interview where Nikkie says, "I had a chance to fix my life and make changes and they never did" hits me hard. I lost two female friends to domestic violence by the violent men in their lives. One was 42 and the other 27. Both had SO MUCH GOOD AND LOVE ahead of them in their lives, and another human being robbed them and the rest of us who knew them and adored them of all those opportunities.

It should be legalized. By keeping it illegal we make the work unsafe for women. Most escorts do it because of either a drug addiction or they just like the easy money. If you don't have a degree or skills you're stuck at minimum wage jobs. You can barely afford a room in some dump on minimum wage. And some girls are just not motivated enough to work while going to school to improve their wages. And if you have children then you're really stuck. So some it's about laziness and some it's out of economic necessity. But the entire sex trafficked coerced woman idea is very rare and mostly a myth.

My take is it's a creative, sensitive individual who turns inwards at a young age because of the tough world in which they live. I literally couldn't get to a place a mile away I'd been to hundreds of times when I started driving. I've gotten a little better as I've gained self esteem and strength.

It's an important skill to have a good sense of direction, one that can be taught and learned. Many girls are not taught this, but should be at a very young age, by age 3 or so. I'm glad it's improving for you. You can ask someone with a good sense of direction to teach it to you. A sailor would be ideal. Or a hiker. Here is an exercise to try, to always know where north, south, east, and west are. If you want to try it, print this out, walk out in the sun with it, read through it, and try this exercise. Start by standing in daylight outside of your home. Look up at the sun position, and note what time it is. Point your arm and index finger to the sun. Now point your arm in the direction where the sun sets. That's west: the Pacific coast. Then point to where it rises from. That's east: the Atlantic coast. Point to where the sun is at noon (overhead). With your arm and index finger, draw a straight line across the sky from where it rises (in the east) to where it sets (in the west). While doing so, say out loud, "That's sunrise in the east, over the Atlantic. I'm drawing a line of the sun's path to sunset in the west, over the Pacific coast." Since the sun rises in the east, and sets in the west, it rises from the Atlantic coast, and sets over the Pacific coast. Turn so that the sunrise point (east, the Atlantic) is on your right, and the west (sunset point, the Pacific) is on your left. Picture a map of the U.S. On the map, the top edge of the map is to the north, the bottom edge is to the south. The Atlantic (east) is on the right and the Pacific (west) on the left. so stand in the sun with the sunrise point on your right, and the sunset point on your left. On the map, Canada is to the north. So as you're standing with the sunrise point on your right, and the sunset point on your left, you'll be facing north toward Canada. Point north to Canada. Now turn a quarter turn to your right, so you're facing to the east, where sunrise occurs. Canada, and north, will be on your left. Now do another quarter turn to your right, so that Canada and north are behind you. Now you're facing south. Do another quarter turn to your right, and you'll be facing the sunset point (the west coast and the Pacific) and Canada and north will be on your right. Now turn a another quarter turn to your right, and you'll be facing north and Canada again. From now on, whenever you leave home, physically point with your arm and locate the east (sunrise point), west (sunset point), and north (to Canada). Your job every day, for the rest of your life, is to point where north (Canada) is, and be aware of where north is at all times: every time you take a turn. Consciously tell yourself, pointing, "There is north and Canada." When you get in your car, or walk to the bus, or ride your bike, every time you take a turn, point your arm north through the turn. Your body will turn, while you keep pointing in the same direction, to the north. When you turn again, keep pointing north to Canada. Once you get the hang of it, try doing this at night, staying aware, every time you turn, which way north and Canada are. You will develop an internal sense of your "north star." It's trickier at night, which is why it's good to practice. Knowing, or being able to figure out, where north is, will build your confidence, independence, safety, and freedom. It's fun to always know where north and Canada are.

@@ALinn-vr3nl Thanks so much for taking the time and energy to write all this out for me. Very kind of you. And I can see how one can develop a good sense of north, etc., but I'm not sure it would actually help me with getting around much. I can literally walk into a restaurant, pick up my Chinese food, and then when leaving to go straight home down that straight street, turn the wrong way and go left instead of right. I realize I can make note of which way I must go when leaving, and solve that problem, but it's just that I don't have the normal sense without thinking about it that normal people do. Weird, eh?

Yes, it sounds like you have a challenge that is less common - I've actually never heard of this. It must be hard for you. It sounds like it would take a whole other level of conscious effort to overcome. Would it be worthwhile to you to try it, what you said you'd need to do? I ask because I didn't expect that knowing where north was instinctively, but that's what happened over time, once I learned how to find north. Perhaps the same would be true for you: at first, it taking a lot of conscious effort, but perhaps becoming instinctive over time. There is freedom in knowing directions. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

I screw up left and right all the time but I have good sense of direction so I may say left when I mean right but I generally know where I'm going. Telling yourself you can do this is also helpful to learning how.

Listen to how this woman prepared for her date, showing her sister or another the oersons picture, making sure she was in an area she knew, asking to be escorted to her car by someone she could trust, making sure she stayed in a known public place, being alert and tuned in at all times. What other steps she probably took but didn't mention? No drinking or drugging with a stranger. Not sitting next to him but across the table. Planning her exit ahead of time when she began to feel uncomfortable. She is alive mostly because of how careful and smart and self- respecting she is, and because she set things up as much as possible not to be truly alone. Listen up people. Don't be a victim.

None of the many people she told about her encounter over the years called the cops either. It's highly likely the police would have dismissed her account as being 'unreliable' because of her lifestyle at the time anyway. Besides, in 2010 Amber Lyn Costello's pimp gave a description of the suspect - 6'4" to 6'6" tall, heavy set and 'ogre like', and his vehicle make and model - a late model Chevvy Avelanche. In 2011 former FBI profiler Jim Clemente's profile of the killer was published in the NY Times describing them as living in, or having lived in the area of Long Island near Gilgo Beach and being very familiar with the area. Also that he would be married or have a girlfriend, be well educated and financially secure. It took the Suffolk County PD LISK taskforce 2 months to identify Rex Heuerman as a suspect with that information. The people who deserve to have their feet to the fire for not doing their damned job are the former Sheriff and detectives who had that information 12 years ago. Four years before this woman went on her date and, thank God had the smarts to stay safe.

@@frankedward6510 I would've. I don't care what they think of me, but when I had the suspicion that he could be the killer, i would report him, don't matter what. Why would they laugh when a woman tells about her strange date? He could be caught much earlier and prevent another murder.

wow what a good interview. I'm happy for her coming to speak about this not only for her but for the victims of his horrendous crimes. I hope she remains safe and uses this platform to continue to inspire other girls who are on the same path she was on. Stay safe and strong.

If what she says is true, then why did she not go to police back then. She said he told her his name was Rex, he was an architect in Manhattan and lived in Gilgo beach, but she didn't go to police? They could have nabbed him the next day if she had given them this information. I don't buy her story. She probably never met him for dinner.

The woman in this interview should run for Congress. She has proven herself to be way smarter, more honest, and far, FAR, more courageous, than George Santos could ever even dream of being. I would vote for her in a heartbeat.

This girl is hilarious. Her conversation with the killer is riddled with telltale clues serial killer red alert red alert. So what do you think of the Gilgo killer? Oh I happen to live in that area too and I would get rid of bodies in the swamp. It's like the guy is trying to incriminate himself. She should have reported him.

Ok I can understand she was scared to report it to LE because s had a criminal history. But how about did she tried to report it as a tip where she didn't have to leave a name? No so why not? If she didn't know others can do that!!! There are lessons to be learned

Hopefully her coming forward will help others who escaped Rex and perhaps they will come forward to help law enforcement by providing those details, which paint the picture of how this deprived evil operates. She was so spot on. She had the chance to change her life for the better. The victims that were murdered did not. She knows she’s fortunate. I wish her the best and I hope other victims or almost victims who escaped death come forward to help put the puzzle pieces of where he was and when in place.
