fig desperately needs to downgrade this skill and not allow gymnasts to do a 3 turned wolf turn then a 2 turn after. it’s genuinely the most horrendous looking element in the current code

@@albertitomoon5002 Sanne's routine will be severely downgraded considering how with the Wevers and the Okino her turn combo already gets completely obsolete, which is a real shame...

With so many people universally agreeing that this is the ugliest most horrendous skill ever to be performed in modern gymnastics, you would think that they would downgrade the skill so that it can’t hurt us anymore.

@J. Amon I would love to see someone do these “beautifully”. Haven’t seen one I’ve thought of as beautiful yet. @@jf2602 Yep -.she only did a single wolf turn so it's B + E which satisfies the minimum A + C for 0.1 for connected turns. If it was a double wolf to okino (D + E) it would be 0.2

Omg this is the ugliest skill EVER. It doesn’t look good even when it’s done right no matter who does it. I know Simone has mastered them now but they still look bizarre to me 🤦🏻‍♀️

@@kat101194 she tried to do a double wolf turn which is a (D). But she did a full wolf turn (B) to a triple (E). (D)=0.4 (B)+(E)=0.7 So she gained three tenths.

Jokes on you, wolf turns just by being in a routine are a mess lmao

@@grazmsp2473 they’re just... bad. Almost everyone flails their arms while doing them and they’re not too appealing to the eye anyway. It’s up to the viewer whether or not they like them but the general consensus is that they’re really bad.

i actually enjoy seeing these fails. Not because i think its funny to laugh at gymasts having a bad day, but to me it demonstrates that these elements are REALLY hard. We get used to seeing these girls execute everything making it look so easy and effortless..but it really isnt. Its years of hard work..

I think my faves are after all of the arm flailing, they manage to save themselves and do the little hand thing like the whole thing was entirely graceful and perfectly executed

i don't know if i've ever seen a nice wolf turn. they immediately pull me out of a routine with the flailing arms.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels this way! It is the ugliest and most awkward skill out of all skills. It doesn’t matter who the gymnast is who does the skill, it always looks so bizarre and they can’t do the move without flailing their arms around. Simone Biles does them on beam and floor exercises and I don’t like them. She’s amazing but I just hate that wolf spin!

They really need to increase the deductions for not getting it right - INCLUDING excessive arm-flailing, lol, not just falling. It's admittedly difficult, so the (very) few who can actually make it look good should get the full difficulty score. But increasing potential penalties would help save our eyes from everyone else doing wolf turns every. Single. Damn. Time. 😅

The ugliest move in gymnastics, even when performed well, and most gymnasts don't perform it well. 😔xxx

The ONLY one I remember liking was Melnikova's from her Rio QF FX, she connected it to a double turn and was actually beautiful. Other than that, even if performed right they just look ugly (imo, of course).

I didn't either. I saw a bunch of people on another vid commenting how much they all hated the 'wolf turn'. How ugly it was and so on. Naturally I was curious what a wolf turn was and found this video. What's funny is as soon as I saw it I immediately thought, THAT'S a wolf turn?! Thank goodness I'm NOT the only person who thinks that turn is ugly and stupid?! 😆 Just goes to show that you don't have to know a lot about gymnastics to know when something looks ugly! 😁

@@queensoff5149 lmao so you obviously don’t know anything or read my comment because a wolf turn has a maximum deduction of -0.3, which is why many gymnasts choose to do said turn since they are worth the risk. A triple wolf turn being a E, -0.3 would just make it like if you had a B skill instead since it’s worth 0.5 anyways. Meanwhile on other turns like a full turn with one leg at 90°, there are so many possible deductions that it seems just not worth it. + It’s probably one of the easiest E turn to perform in the triple form. Also you clearly do not understand how the rules work, because if they were to stop the turns at 2, it wouldn’t affect only the wolf turn, and that would be a huge setback and it’s just an overall laughable idea. The problem isn’t that the skill is too dangerous to be performed or impossible, the problem is the lack of execution when most gymnasts do it. Put in more deductions and then they’ll start to either train it more to get better execution or change it. It’s that simple
