I don’t want to take anything away from Angel - she’s good and I would pick her for a first team, but ask yourself: would you even be watching if Caitlin didn’t exist? Reese plays like almost every other post player in the league. She gets double digit rebounds because she misses so many shots and gets her own rebound. I had no interest in women's b-ball until I heard CC was coming up on Pistol Pete's NCAA record. Yeah, I know took an extra season, but I wondered 'Who is this young lady?', dropping 3 bombs?. Now, you are right, it's like watching HS pickup with standouts but I got into how competitive the players are. 'the story', good and bad' seems more important than the stats, which is where I think we are at. I worked at a city civic center and we hosted an NHL farm team for the Bruins. Collegiate women's hockey teams would play and it was like watching the farm teams in slow motion. This WNBA sabotage of Caitlin Clark is reminiscent of Professional Wrestling's WWE. There were pro wrestlers that became so popular with the fans that they became bigger than the brand and were able to dictate their own terms. Vince McMahon, the owner, decided that the WWE was not going to let this happen in the future and never promoted their wrestlers beyond a certain level of popularity. The WNBA does not want Caitlin's brand to become bigger than that of the league. And, considering how poor the reputation of the WNBA is, it doesn't take much to out shine the league. Hence why the league is trying to force feed Angel Reese down the fans' throats.

Caitlin's great court IQ and ability to see the entire court, like a chess grandmaster can see the chessboard, will help her shotmaking. Her pinpoint passing is getting her teammates to hustle down the court and get open more, knowing that the reward will come when Caitlin hits them with the pass. As her teammates score more, opponents can't double team and triple team her. If she gets any opening she can let fly. It's win/win/win. CC/teammates/team will win. Caitlin is such a smart, generous team leader. Her teammates are realizing that CC is giving up the opportunity to take a shot, to set up her teammates to go for it.

They have also beaten 2 teams with 2 or more Olympians. (New York and Phoenix). They are playing very well for the youngest team in the league and are getting better with each game. Leading the league in points produced - as a rookie! Extraordinary that she has been able in 22 games (the first 12 almost without any practices) to take over control of the team as the floor general, gain rapport with her teammates in terms of acclimating them to playing with pace and being ready for passes to be delivered on a dime and still find her opportunities to score while drawing double teams on almost every possession. Just based on how teams have to plan their game plan around stopping her is all you need to know. Teams are not obsessed with planning their defense around stopping Reese. If she really is on par to Caitlin, why aren’t coaches game planning around stopping her?

Angel Reese's record has never been done, her record has never been done by any WNBA player in any season, not just by players in their rookie year. Think about that, no player in the WNBA, which includes all of the Hall of Famers, Allstars, and Rookies of the Year, in every season that they have ever played, hasn’t done what Angel Reese is doing as a rookie. Caitlyn Clarks record is compared only to players in their first year, because other players have had a triple-double this year, it’s a good record, but not that special of a record compared to Chi-Town Barbie’s record. In the history of the WNBA how many teams were bad enough that they let a rookie play point guard for 38 minutes a game? (just to pad her stats)! Caitlyn Clark is the only rookie that has ever been given that type of opportunity to attempt a triple-double in their rookie season.

Per game stats Clark: 16.1 pts / 6.0 REB / 7.4 AST Reese: 14.1 pts / 11.9 REB 1.4 AST I think these numbers are pretty close, and we should dig deeper into the advanced numbers. FULL SEASON (per 100 pos) Reese: 22.2 pts / 42% FG% / 18.6 REB / 2.9 AST / +2.1 +/- Clark: 22.7 pts / 39% FG% / 8.9 REB / 10.4 AST / -7.3 +/- LAST 8 GAMES (per 100 pos) Clark: 22.1 pts / 44% FG% / 10.3 REB / 12.7 AST / 3.3 +/- Reese: 25.2 pts / 46.4% FG% / 21.7 REB / 2.8 AST / 2.0 +/- Why am I citing per-100 Possession stats? This is minutes AND pace agnostic. If you look at per-game numbers, one player may play more minutes than the other and/or play at a faster pace, creating more possessions. Still, it's really close. Some people might argue that pushing the pace is good and shouldn't be discounted, so let's look at the per 36 minutes. Considering Clark is the one who is determining the pace. Clark: 16.8 pts / 6.2 REB / 7.7 AST Reese: 16.1 pts / 13.6 REB 3.0 AST They're still really close. Let's dive a little bit deeper. A lot of people want to cite Clark's ability to shoot as a reason to give Clark an edge. eFG% Clark 50.2 eFG% Reese 42.2 Does Clark being a more effective scorer mean she is having a greater impact on her team than Reese? The answer is no. It is commonly accepted in basketball analysis that the best measure of how good a team takes is how many points they score, and subtracting how many points they give up( margin of victory ) often gets expressed as a net rating. Let's look at how each player affects their team's net rating. ORtg on/off Clark +1.9 ORtg on /off Reese +15.8 NetRtg Clark -8.1 NetRtg Reese +2.3 I know a lot of Clark fans want to blame her teammates for her turnover and chalk Reese's offensive rebounds up to her rebounding her misses. The truth is, it's more than just that. Clark's turnovers are costing her team too many possessions( Clark's God-awful defense is hurting her net rating as well), and Reese is gaining her team more possessions with her offensive rebounding. Rebounding your ass off, setting screens, and trying on defense isn't as cool as long 3PTs and fancy passes, but it's honest work. I thought conservatives liked that. If you are still here, what can you take away from this? Grab it if you can still find + money on Reese to Win ROTY. This race is WAY too close to call, and Reese could steal this Award from under Clark the same way she did the National Title, which makes her the perfect rival for Clark.

So Reese is getting a lot of rebounds, but that's really the only remarkable thing. A double double isn't a big thing, not an esteemed stat, hence you never hear of them until now, trying to build Reese up to make it a close race, to keep everyone's attention. The following is a no racist, opinion. Only facts and numbers: Clark is a complete player. Good ball handling, a great court view, a good passer, an all-the-court shooter, good defense with more blocks than Reese, and a good rebounder too. She can play at half-court or at full speed. She is a complete player. With all of Reese's double-doubles, Clark has more points and assists. So Reese is a rebounder. In reality, she is more than a rebounder because she make a lot of doubles - doubles. But Clark have more points than Reese so Reese only have 6 more rebounds than Clark in every game. In all the other statistiscs including free shoots Clark is over 90% and Rees 75% .She is a great player but the numbers and statistics make a great difference between both players. Clark is a young , complete and learning players. How many assists have Reese? 1.85% and Clark have 6 %. Clark have more blocks and steals in every game. She elevate her team capacity and today is ove the sky in the 7th position. So this conversation is a fantasy. Reese is a good player but can't be better than Clark never.

Caitlin Clark shoots less than 35% from the 3 pt line while shooting around 8 threes a game making her average 3pt shooter. She leads the league in nothing but turnovers, has 3 all star players on her team(including herself) and her team is still below .500 she has one of the worst +/- in the league as a starter. Meanwhile Angel Reese only averages 3 less points than Caitlin and leads the league in rebounds as a rookie and is the only all star on her team. I do believe that Clark is a huge reason that the WNBA is getting more views but to say she is the best player or even the best rookie right now is crazy talk based on what she has done and her stats in the WNBA. Her fans are clearly hyping her up based on what she did in college. Also to your point of CC is the ONLY player with the popularity to move to bigger venues. Le'Bron James had to play in bigger venues when he was in high school. Also by the time Bird and Magic entered the league the NBA was already in the biggest arenas they could play in. So moving to a bigger arena wasn't possible they would just sell out. Also to say that CC is getting all of this attention because she doesn't act a certain way and it is solely based on her game is crazy and you don't understand Americans. Did you forget about the Kardashians and all of theses real housewives shows? People love drama and if we just look at what CC has done in the league(first rookie to get a triple double and the fastest player to get to 300 points, even though she averages the 5th highest minutes in the league as a rookie), if she didn't have all the drama surrounding her from college(Angel Reese waving her hand in the face, the president's wife inviting JUST Caitlin to the white house after she lost which never happened before, and of course CC breaking the NCAA record in points) CC would be a little more popular than any rookie prior to her.

The difference between good and great. Great players work SMARTER, not harder. Less skillful and less talented, less athletic players have to work harder to compensate for not being as good. There is a big difference between a good, hard working player and a great one-of-a-kind generational player like Curry and Caitlin or a Serena Williams who, of course, have put in thousands of hours in practice, developing their games. It's the difference between a pack horse and a thoroughbred stallion. Angel Reese is the hardworking pack horse. Caitlin Clark plays the exciting style of basketball that makes fans want to watch her. I am a big fan of MMA and the UFC. In the early days of the sport, fighters specialized in just one fighting discipline like stand-up or jujitsu, or muay Thai. Some preferred to fight on their feet while some preferred to take their opponents to the ground. Fans got bored very quickly with the latter style and wanted to see exciting fights. MMA has evolved. Fighters MUST be proficient in many styles. Fans will only pay repeatedly to see exciting fighters, not boring one-dimensional ones. Caitlin Clark is skillful in all aspects of the game and able to score from anywhere on the floor, not just from 2 feet from the basket. But, like any great player in a team sport, she needs teammates who are smart enough to understand that their role is to enhance her game not to overshadow it. And, she needs a coach smart enough to build a team around such a generational player.

@@joeysweet9045I think he is trying to say most of them names are all time greats and that turnovers are not as big a deal as alot make it out to be.

angel reese is a legend in her own mind! Caitlin Clark IS the R.O.Y.! So, to all of the woke, black, gay women (?) of the WNBA, get over your misguided hatred for the absolute ONLY reason why people are watching you now! The WNBA should change their name to League of Caitlin! As for me, I'm still not watching!

Granted CC does have a lot of turnovers. However if you are using turnovers then you have to exclude AR also. She averages as many turnovers as assists. Check the states averages about 1.9 each a game.

When the girls start playing in sports bras and short shorts I’ll start paying attention to the wnba. A men’s basketball uniform is about as unflattering as it gets. I miss the LFL. But prefer basketball.

His ft% was 52.7% because outside of 5ft he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn! All he was good at was bully ball and slams!
