In the past if movie or TV show had a gay character NOBODY cared because that was not main focus of the movie. But I bet that if 5th element would be released today everyone would write essays about Ruby Rhod, or that Korben in one scene "classifies" himself as a Meat Popsicle. Today even if such a scene would be introduced as a joke the whole movie would get a brand of being "woke". My daughter loved at one point Elemental.
