This movie got a lot of hate for showing "rich people problems" when it actually showed us how money and luxury doesn't guarantee happiness. Loved DDD then, and will adore it forever. Zoya Akhtar is an amazing writer.

A lot of people asked why Priyanka couldn't do that herself and needed her dad to put his foot down. But this sequence had a very important part this was probably the first time her father was standing up for her. The entire movie she thinks her father only looked at her as a commodity that was given away for business, but this one interaction showed that he would put her before the fame and money and fight with her and for her as a father, even if it's against her husband. Even as an independent strong woman, priyanka in this scene realised she wasn't alone fighting her battle. And I find that beautiful :").

Like shefali holding priyanka's hand, Anil accepting his mistake, the saas calling priyanka "investment" , the husband trying to show his dominance physically coz he wasnt able to do it with words... N the cherry on the cake... Ranveer's expressions When d saas picks up the knife...n d dialoge... Vo butter knife hai...

As a working lady myself, I could relate SO. MUCH. to Priyanka's character in this scene. She's a SELF MADE woman, she doesn't expect her in-laws to give her money or depend on them financially. Even then, this mother in law says ki they "invested" in her, as if she's been a burden to them. That doesn't make sense lol she's not even considering why they're getting a divorce And then she says "kuch galat kaha maine?" See, she's angry over the divorce and all that, I get it. But what Zoya Akhtar shows here is the mentality of these women in general. Another great scene, well done 🙏🏼👏

Ranveer's expressions were great and dialogue was even better. Every brother should be like this. Anil at the end was the best. Behaved how a real protective father should behave and stand for his daughter and protect her, defend her. No father and brother can or should tolerate abuse of their daughter or sister. Good to see Anil regretted getting his daughter married to that crap family. Galati kai saal pehle ho chuki thi. All real dads and brothers should be like this.

This was unlike most 'upper-class-mirror' films in Hindi. I love DDD. Saw it twice on the big screen and many more times later. This scene, to be specific, is where it explodes. DDD is such a beautiful take on the fact that, as someone here mentioned, 'money and luxury doesn't guarantee happiness', and that we're kind of all the same, irrespective of our class. All of us face similar problems, and all of us have the same way out of it!

No one can beat Anil Kapoor's intensity in such powerful scenes. The pain in his eyes before complete rage. No wonder he is a living legend.

2:14 to 2:21, years of repentance, redemption and rage like a father found the lost love for his daughter has been brilliantly portrayed by Anil Kapoor. 3:01 the way he folds his hands and requests them to leave , inside his tapori mind he'll be like " maa beta dono katlo yahan warna maa behen hojayegi tumhari"😂😂. Also "Woh butter knife hai" was an ingenious trigger though 😂😂 Ranveer singh excels 👍
