I never have understood the mindset of bagging leaves and throwing them away. Get a mulcher and use the leaves as natural fertilizer. Throwing away the leaves and grass clippings, depletes the soil.

because in a suburban area you will never, ever need that many bags of leaves and leaving them out without maintenance will kill your grass even if the soil is good.

So far, they're not the NEATEST trash guys.

I till large amounts of leaves into my vegetable gardens. They have nutrients and provide worms with food... just to name a few benefits. I chop them up first with a lawnmower, down to pieces quarter size or smaller. It makes the leaf pile about 10 times smaller and they break down faster once tilled into the soil. I till in so many that the mixture will be more leaves than soil. They break down fairly quick and my vegetables are very rich in flavor

I do the same thing my leaves, compost bin is 10x16x 4'deep. I divided into 2 sections so they get emptied every 2 years.

I drive a bin truck for my local council ( in the UK ). If this was not an arranged pickup it would be left there. You would have to pay for a special collection. The compactors are also automatic so you would only have to press the button once. We would start at the first row of bags and work forward, with the loaders throwing in and the driver moving forward slowly. Less walking and carrying for the loaders.

There is a fee paid for every one of those bags they will be back to finish, the rest of the leaves in bins is additional cost and can be a fee paid over the regular charge as long as tnhey are marked properly

it sounds like this is the entire neighborhoods leaf bags, since he talks about taking awhile to collect everything and bring them from "the other street" as well if that is true than its just saving the truck from driving all around and they just have one location to grab it all, maybe saving time overall

That’s why here in Scotland we think they are all wanks 😂😂 in America they mostly pay for it privately unlike here (in the uk) it’s all through high taxes government run and absolutely nothing gets done, like you said jobs worth. at the start it sounds like that is what happened. he mentions driving around the block the night before to collect them in one pile, so maybe the neighbourhood or the guy videoing just does it himself...garbage truck fans love to get good video footage lol there's a HUGE youtube community of just garbage truck videos, but it is also a good way to save the waste guys time/waste less fuel doing one big pickup. when i used to get curbside pickup, some of my neighbours and i would consolidate our load and the company liked that. little things like that are appreciated by the guys who do this job, or giving them cold bottled water or gloves in winter. always gotta be nice to the garbage guys

I live in the Midwest and the town just to the west of us the residents rake all there leaves to the street, then the village comes around with a big sewer vac and sucks it all up.They grind it up and sell it as mulch

I lived in Japan for 18 years & the Japanese would only pick up 5 bags each pickup day. If you had more, you either took it to the dump yourself, scheduled a special pickup, or waited the pick-up days required for the number of bags you had.

When my packed rat elderly brother was moved to a nursing home, my relatives helped me cleaned up his 2 1/2 bedroom apartment. We bagged over 350 bags in the Costco 33 gallon bags. When we stacked them up at his backyard, the pile was at least 4 layer high and 6 bag deep, + a pile of old furniture. A day later, when I drove past his backyard, the city had cleared that pile.

That there is what builds well deserved muscles and a healthy and stress free (I expect) lifestyle. Live long and happy!

This is the only kind of work that I do, and see myself doing for as long as I can work. Anybody who tries to get me to think about something else gets ignored very quickly.

There's an item limit here, only 8 items per address. And, There's a truck that comes by and vacuums up the leaves when you dump them at the street edge of the property.

Imagine what it cost this homeowner for all these paper bags, I miss the days when you could drop your leaves at various parking lot locations around the city. Front end loaders would then scoop the leaves and broken branches / yard waste into trucks to be hauled off to compost facilities.

Yeah .... I take the bed cover off my PU and raise the sides up then cover and take to landfill myself. My collection service would charge me 10 for everybag over the first 3. Can't imagine this guys cost.

They should have just picked up the phone and called a company that produces mulch, it would mix well with wood chips.

As for me I use a small trailer and load that thing up and take it to a garden center where they make really good mulch and top soil and much better than wasting all those bags. Thats is a good couple of trips or so with the trail I have but I get it done.

Does this City/Town have a leaf drop off area?? Most Cities/ towns Here in Ontario, have decomposition sites for leaves and garden waste.

they werent really full the blade cant handle all the bags need like a leach or heil

The homeowner should have notified the yard waste company about the large pickup!! They should have also figured out a way to help with getting the bags on the truck !!

My landlord collects it, all year. year after we get it back again as topfilling to our gardens for free. i suppose this goes to a yard to get molten

I usually give them cold drinks and lunch money throughout the year.

Why not back the truck up so they don't have to take so many steps? Then move it forward to the next group.

Where I live the city picks them up, the whole idea behind nagging them is to not take them to a landfill.

That is like $130 in bags.

Bright move by the driver parking in the middle of that pile of bags causing all that walking to the truck,I used to drive one of these rear end loader compactors,that truck must have been pretty full to struggle with bags of leaves like that, the one I had chopped a piece of telephone pole in half that someone had thrown in the container and this one was struggling with bags of leaves.

I heard other state yard waste take limit 5 bags free and additional each bag will bill to you 5 dollars each yard waste bag. It happen we have five bags limit. Then charge each bag to utilities and send utilities bill to home.

The garbage pickup in my area restricts it to a couple bags a week for yard waste

All that good organic material going to trash.

Our trash company will only take 5 at the most on a collection day
