Wizbang jr Install and Test - Read Battery Use and Charge

The Wizbang jr. allows the midnite classic charge controller to feed more information to the classic monitor app. It shows the power going into the battery as well as the power consumption. A good way to see what power the inverters are sending to the house and what charge state the batteries are in. I use a bus bar to connect the two inverters and the two charge controllers together. The Wizbang jr is installed on the negative wire of the battery. So a wire is sent from the battery onto one side of a shunt. On the other side of the shunt is the bus bar with all the other electronics negative wires.

I would put some sort of protective housing over that shunt/busbar contraption. That is a lot of electrified bare metal surface and is asking for an accident.

Nice video... Now all ya need is to do a bit of wire management and labeling so in case of emergency anyone can tell exactly what is going where and why.. LOL.. I really need to do some wire management of my own, all the cords running to and from my desk, looks like a rat's nest.. LOL.. your videos should inspire people, that anyone can do it as long as they put their minds to it.. I love that fact that you don't hide anything and even show your mistakes, most of us would edit that out, but it shows me you are real.. My hat is off to ya.. keep up the good work and Be Blessed...

Are you using led lights inside your house ? The wattage drop seemed like a lot just for a set of bathroom lights ?? Also you mentioned deepwell water pump and power problems. When I lived in Costa Rica we built a water cistern system out of 6 food grade blue plastic barrels , about 50 gal each, and built a smallish platform alongside the roof edge of the house. About 20 foot high plumbed all together. That connect ed into the main pipe system with a check valve installed toward the pump supply side. Our community electric power went on and off constantly throughout the day. We filled the cistern when power was on and used that water when the power was down and we also had small generator to use on the well pump. That well pump supplied 5 different " cabanas " and all had the cistern system. Just an idea for you. If you ever paid attention while watching movies that take place in third world/rural areas you will see this system in use for most smallish home, usually on the end near the kitchen and shower area. Our toilets were outside in a WC !

Lots of bare terminals and wires. Definitely wouldn't pass inspection in the UK. All that would need to be in cabinets. I notice you have condensation dripping from pipes in the ceiling. Do you get much fog? Isn't it all open to the elements down there? Scary. How do you monitor the solar with that app? Or don't you?

Some Universal (RF not IR) remote controls are what they call "Activities" These would be user programmable commands, for example I use.. if I turn a new multimedia device it turns off the other ones in the house.. I wonder if that's possible with Wifi Switches and Wifi Outlets, so if I turn on the light in the Patio the activities command would turn off the lights inside the house automaticall Then you have sensor switches which is another add on to think about that can assist in saving on Electricity

@@KenSharp I respectfully disagree. While the split mains system is unusual, that affects use of the inverter(s), power from batteries to line voltage. Robert's question was not about inverters, but charge controllers, and a single battery bank is being used here, unless I missed something. The charge controller is for power from source to battery, not the mains.

If you incorporate Wifi switched in your house, you will have the perfect Off Grip Wireless system. Wifi Switches can be controlled with an App too thru your Wifi Router (internet or not) Wifi switches have come down in prices a lot in recent years, and offer different options There are Wifi light bulbs most of which are LEDs Or wifi outlests and even wifi power strips and of course the traditional switch, that arent wired but instead are wireless IE wifi You should be, from your iPhone, see power consumption (you have a nice system) and turn off all lights if all are Wifi enabled, including Fridge Microwave by using wifi outlet adapters And of course if you say iPhone controlled that means also PC controlled or iPad I use an old iPad that I leave in the kitchen, with it I control all lights, but I'm on Grid Lucky you
