Wizard NR100 Frames on Seba Inline Skates - FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Спорт

I've finally got my hands on some Wizard NR100 frames. These things fit 4x100mm wheels and are UFS, fitting perfectly on my Seba CJ skates. I took them around my neighborhood to see how they felt.

    I have this set up (with the intuition liner) and it's practically made me quit grinding.. It was intimidating at first but keeping it simple, figuring out pivot points and edges etc has made me enjoy blading so much more! And then once you figure it out you realise there are endless possibilities! Will definitely be getting the 5 wheeled version when they come out to really push into the nose and tails.

    I'm excited to get more into them. Very different compared to aggressive or distance skating. I need to figure out where they fit in my skating life. Awesome that it's something you found fun though, I can see that.

    Oh for sure, I'm super interested in seeing how you progress in them and hearing your opinions :) It just takes time getting past the "I have no idea what I'm doing in these" stage hah

    Lol, exactly. I love grinding and learning new tricks. This will be a departure from that.

    Thank you for posting, looking forward to seeing more of you and your NR100's. I'm skating the K2 Sodo after 15 years of no skating and thinking of upgrading to NR100's eventually.👍

    Law I hope you have time to learn some of the swively/wizardey stuff before doing your full review of these, as that's what they're intended for. A review of these that was based on only some cruising and urban skating would be incomplete, even with a few slides thrown in.

    For sure! I mentioned as much in the video, gazelles and lions will come. Still not sure where in my skating world they fit, but I had a lot of fun playing.

    Keen to try some 300mm+ free skates, no way can I justify a Wizard/CJ/Intuition/Mushroom setup so it's going to be K2 R100 but is it worth putting that frame on either a New Jack/Salomon STi or just get a lighter UFS boot and buy the K2 Sodo with frame? I've been toying with the idea of some 4x100 speed skate frames on a 165mm/195mm freeskate boot but I'm not convinced that speed skate frames will take too well to stair rolling and gaps.

    I've never tried the r100 on the NJ, but the Trimax was pretty solid. I think you'll be fine with the r100 on there. I wouldn't put speed frames on there, the ride height would be way too tall imho.

    Would love some wizards but I'm on seba fr1 boot, non ufs... I wonder how they'd go with an adaptor... Or if they would make a frame that fits non ufs! Can't be much of an adjustment to the jig to do it!

  • @BacktoBlading

    @BacktoBlading

    5 жыл бұрын

    Naw, I wouldn’t use an adapter. They ufs wizards on a Seba are low profile and super solid. The fewer layers of plastic the better.

  • @BigRedWrenster

    @BigRedWrenster

    This is the problem, many folk who have non ufs boots, Rollerblade, powerslide, seba etc are locked out of the Wizard frame unless they want to splash for a whole setup. A simple alteration to the design as an option and they'd open up heaps of buyers!

    Waaw thank you! :) I bet a lot of people who are interested in these frames wonder about the weight. If weight is a big issue, I bet this is valueable info before those people pay $400 for them. So I bet they're fun to skate, but for me personally, I think I would enjoy a light and short 3x100 (or 3x110) frame a lot more in the long run.

    Yeah, I think that’s what people do. These are interesting though since they’re UFS and not really designed for distance. They’re just designed for having fun on skates.

    What size is your foot Derek? I found the 246 a bit short personally, but I'm 28.5cm. 255 feels really nice, and I prefer 270 with 4x 72.

    Lawrence, could you please give us the weight of one full boot, frame, wheels,...the left or the right, exactly as you have it in size 10 please. Much appreciated. (PS The whole thing looks heavy as hell! LOL)

  • @BacktoBlading

    @BacktoBlading

    So, the frames with no axels are 432g. The whole skate is 2102g. For comparison, my Them with Balance frames antirocker are 1748g. They’re heavy skates. I wouldn’t say they’re too heavy, but combined with the length there’s a noticeable difference when skating.

  • @Burps___

    @Burps___

    Thank you so much for that information, Lawrence. That's 4.6 pounds per side! 9.2 pounds for the pair! I see what you said in the video that they're not for distance skating. Please don't skate off any bridges into a pond. :-))) #cementshoes #sleepswiththefishes

    Okay, maybe you're right. Looking forward to your next video on the famed Wizards. Oh, and at the risk of overmaking a point, and as a strong advocate for everyone can choose for themselves in life, I still have to ask: did you see Ricardo Lino's video today? Watch first ten seconds. Ouch! Elbows shatter (she's lucky). My skate buddy gets his orthopedic fixator removed at Mass General in Boston this week, yay! kzread.info/dash/bejne/pZ6GxdJmna-_htI.html

    Maybe, but that's changing my skating style, which I'm fine for trails but if these are urban it'll be tough. I played hockey since I was 13, my crossovers are molded into my style. When the wheels (or my blade) goes past my boot so much it's going to be an adjustment.

  • @SamuelGoodwin

    I need to work on them for sure! Hockey has taught me to basically run on skates, which is fine in a few situations but horrible technique. I'd also assume that crossovers aren't really a goal for these frames.
