  • @mrbennett

Afrobeats is not a genre. It is a collection of a diversity of genres. You've probably been listening to the same set of artists that's why you think it is not diverse. I think the name is a lazy oversimplification which makes it hard to identify the different unique genres that some people so thoughtlessly lumped together.

This song has such a strong ancestral pull and I LOVE IT! We have run away from our roots, demonized our spirituality and looked down on our traditions for too long and I can’t explain enough how much I love that this song gives a nod to all of these elements! The first time I heard this song I didn’t even know it was done by a Nigerian but the pull was so strong, I love it even more knowing that it’s my Nigerian brother who did this epic masterpiece! I love this song so much and would I love to pick the brain of someone like Wizard Chan! he is obviously an old soul in a young body. Well done boss! May your light continue to shine brighter and brighter 🎉🎉🎉
