Thank you for the excellent footage. The government may wish to erase any history of Wittenoom but your film does justice to those poor souls who were once part of that industry.

Actually it might be good to erase the remnants and seal the mine of Wittenoom. History can be saved in a Way where dumb people don't bring their children into a highly asbestos contaminated area.

Asbestos is the material and blue asbestos is the most dangerous one and blue asbestos was the one mined in Wittenoom
I have been to Wittenoom and the mine buildings many times , but never been in the tunnels.
We really have to appreciate this kind of footage you filmed there in this extremely dangerous mine. The background of this mine and in general the city Wittenoom is extremely interesting. Thank you.
Outstanding work guys. One for the history archives. Thoroughly enjoyed this exploration. Thanks for sharing
Glad you where both wearing appropriate PPE gear, you can see the dust in the cameras light, death is just centimeters away in that place.

Imagine how much more fibers were in the air when the mines were in full operation 😐
Totally enjoyed your efforts guys thankyou so much for this video footages, I say a prayers that your ppe gear protected you to its maximum capacity, the build up of fibres on your shoes , scary shit indeed
The feeling being inside of this mine must’ve been incredible
Equal parts mesmerising and terrifying. 😬
As a 7 year old boy l did go in the mine .My dad worked in the enturnal workshop.

The fact there are woodstock tins in that mine show that people have been in there unprotected. Those people are ruhtless beyond recognision.
Thank you for this video.
Thanks for showing me the mine !!!
It’s hard to believe how dangerous this fibre is. I lost a customer to Asbestos related cancer. It was awful to see him struggling on a ventilator. He was a carpenter and had done asbestos cladding for 6 months in the late 60s . It was enough to end his retirement early and leave his wife broken hearted .

This is an excellent video. It looks like you guys were well protected. This gave me a good idea of what occurred in the mine. I do not need to go out and see this.
That can tell this why people shouldn't go to see this and Wittenoom townsite also

I worked at an Holden factory about 14 years after they cleared out , all they still did there was to have a spare parts Warehouse, the rest of the old buildings were either empty or leased to a hardware company, transport companies, manufacturing, etc . The roofing was all asbestos plus other areas. I was working by myself one day, other workers were in another building, came out of lunchroom to see some guy I didn't know walking around, I asked what he was doing as the.manager would've wanted me to ! . He said he was a contractor employed by the body corporate, to monitor asbestos levels, he had a meter, and told me my area was within acceptable levels, However, he went on to say that another building that was sealed off , was ,. basically a deathtrap.. 😥
At least one of you didn't even wear gloves... Could you please all see a doctor? This looks quite undereqipped. In case you or someone you know wants to do this again: -tape your suits shut at arms and legs -wear a full face mask with two filters -wear thick gloves Throw away everything afterwards Please -

@@widelings7029 I mainly upload tests of my 3D work, which is how I make a living. I am not sure how you disliking my job has to do with safety precautions for dealing with asbestos. I was present during the disposal of windowsills, made of asbestos and that's the stuff I had to wear, even when not in contact with the asbestos myself. It would be nice, if you could focus on the content of my comment first and possibly criticise, if you don't agree with a point. I don't think it's fair trying to take validation away from my comment by making fun of my profession. I am sure you have work too, which you are proud to do and which you excel at. Is that some kind of live animal at 19:20 ?
Given all the steps taken so far to restrict people from the risk of exposure, I'm surprised that the state government hadn't just set off demolition charges at each of the entrances. The only reason I can think of is cultural sensitivity, albeit belated.
@ExperimentalHV As I shake my head, I say, at least you made an attempt by wearing PPE, although I'd have liked to seen HOW you removed it without breathing in all of the sea of fibres that were in view inside the mine, and the unseen ones outside, especially as you walked in them (It only takes ONE fibre to start the ball rolling) - I say in all sincerity; I hope in the ensuing years and decades, you still think it was worth it for content...
Hope you had a spare flashlight...
To ANYONE saying good for you for wearing proper PPE in the first part they WEREN'T wearing masks OR ANY PPE for that matter the damage has already been done they have blue asbestos in their lungs
Being a mine explorer this is on my bucket list. Looks epic 😮
holy crap
Amazing footage! Drop the grand hollywood music though. Its kinda distracting from the eerie video youve shot. :) .
The entrances should’ve been blown closed to prevent future entries, way too risky
Anyone know someone that was exposed to blue asbestos as a child and lived up to their 80s or 90s without getting any asbestos related diseases?

I lived there in the sixties my, father was a surveyor there and he took me underground on a couple of occasions, my father died of lung cancer at the age of 74 asbestos may have been a contributing factor but he was a heavy smoker, my mother at 92. I am now 73 and my brother and sisters are all asbestos disease free.

Ahhhhh.... You can audibly hear the rustling of their PPE, and the muffled voices of being behind masks. Too bad they weren't there for the first trip. I appreciate your sacrifice for Part 1, not many people would give their lives for a KZread video.
A subject the government would rather avoid
Ironically it is probably safer in the mine than outside.
Asbestos is bestos!
You guys went into a crocidolite mine with only a half mask with what looked like P2 filters? Awesome documentary but very silly way to conduct it! Only looking at your guys own health
