(Without Music) THE SWANAGE RAILWAY - An Aerial Journey - Part 1: Swanage to Norden in 4K

A small number of railway enthusiasts wanted to see this video without the backing music. So, just for you here it is!
Please bear in mind that professional drones do not record sound. If they did, all you'd hear is the buzzing of the rotors anyway!
Therefore the loco sounds are dubbed on from a ground based static recording. Sound accuracy cannot be assured!
As never seen before, following a minute by minute railway journey from Norden to Swanage from the air!
Sit back an enjoy Corfe Castle and the rolling Purbeck countryside glide past, with unique views of the Swanage trains hard at work, to relax by.
Filmed in high resolution 4K video, ideal for large screen viewing.
Photographer's may appreciate the subtitled location names covering every bridge and crossing.
(For safety reasons, we cannot fly our drone at stations. Therefore these have been covered using a ground based camera instead.)
This production has been dedicated to the Swanage Railway's COVID-19 'Save Our Service' appeal. See link details at the end of this video.
Flying drones near railway lines presents a very significant operational hazard for the railway that must be avoided. This production has been produced with the Swanage Railway's approval.

Are you a professional dronographer or do you do it as a hobby? Beautiful footage of our Dorset countryside (trains are quite nice too!)

No, I'm an amateur dronographer/Videographer. If you're interest is in the Dorset countryside, may I suggest you take a look at my other channel.... JP Dronography? There's lots of Dorset content there. Thanks for your comment.

Brilliant video, as it should have been from first posting, without that dreadful over-dubbed Muzak!

I understand. There are two camps here. There's the rail enthusiasts like us. We know and love our trains. We really enjoy a locomotive sound working hard up a steep bank. What a wonderful sound. Then there's the tourist non-rail enthusiast that loves the countryside and the cows. Not particularly aware of the mode of transport they are riding on, but hey! what a lovely view! They have no interest in whether the engine that's pulling them is a class 5 or whatever. Those people switch off to enthusiast films. They want cinematography. They need to be carried through the production with music. BBC, ITV, Channel 4, you name it, do the same thing. In my opinion, although important, enthusiasts are not enough for viewing figures. Both camps support preserved railways. In COVID-19 we needed to up the precarious situation to both camps. Appeal to the enthusiasts and you only appeal to the enthusiasts. Appeal to the wider population, and you'll appeal to some of the enthusiasts as well. A wider audience. That's why, when you're trying to save a railway, that's got to come first. Then the specific interests of others come next. That is what has been done here. Appeal to the masses first. Hope that puts it into some sort of perspective. We didn't have much time to act to help save the SR in COVID-19 Rest assured, that when/if things return to normal, our priority for filming galas etc would be the enthusiast, and for that target audience the music would be dropped. Regards, Railflicks
