With the GRE waiver for Spring and Fall 22, should you write the GRE exam?

The Graduate Record Examinations or GRE is a standardized test and an admissions requirement for many graduate schools in the United States, Canada and few other countries. But due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the test centres are closed down internationally for health and safety concerns. Many universities have been proactive and, taking everything into consideration, have announced a GMAT and GRE waiver for students applying for Spring and Fall 22. However, most have made it optional, but recommended. In this case, should you take the GRE?

Probably not a great decision since the GRE isn't a very study-heavy exam. Unless you really dislike your job, or it has long hours, or want to do something else (intern, research, volunteer) along with GRE prep, it isn't necessary to prep for the exam full-time. Just 1-2 hours of prep a day for a few months will suffice.

Yup, you can. Before you get your score, there's a screen that says "would you like to cancel your score?" You can hit Yes there. Or, once you see your score, you can just choose not to send it to any university. If a university isn't sent a GRE score from you, they won't get to see it. So if you get 296 then 306, and you only sent the 306, that's the only score they'll see.

Yeah if your GPA looks good and you submit a low GRE score, it would be hard for them to "unsee" it. Better to just not submit the score in that case.
