【With subtitles】How to Preparing new Japanese chisels for reliable service
To start full-scale woodworking, purchase chisels for the first time.
Jig plan convenient for woodworking

【Chisel】
I purchased a chisel which is hammered with a hammer (ordinary chisel)
It is a cheap article of about 1,000 yen ~ 2,000 yen for 1 piece at home center · · ·
【Whetstone】
Although diamond whetstone (not electrodeposited article) is high, the reduction of grindstone is small, and it is characterized by the good sustainability of the plane. Moreover, since the diamond is kneaded, it has good machinability and finishes faster than the artificial grindstone.

【Polishing table】
The polishing table is a portable sharpening stand

• Making of Sharpening S...
【Ibota】
You can tell by watching the movie, but use it with back push.
It has the effect of imprinting on the corner of the whetstone and intentionally clogging.
Use it for the purpose of preventing the side of chisel from being polished more than necessary by back pushing.
amzn.to/2EWZP4E
【Nagura (using powdered things in motion picture)】
The fine grinding stone #3000, #8000 is easy to clog.
So you can pre-polish Nakura on the grindstone to make it easy to grind.

Should I sharpen my Mukoumachi-Nomi any differently? Specifically the front. I bought a used one and the front face of the edge is convex. Thanks in advance.
13 minutes of serious instruction by a Master craftsman. Thanks for sharing.
Great tool, great job. Thank you for the visual preparation for the work of the Japanese chisels. 👍

Outstanding presentation, have seen the block applied before ibota and the rounding of the back surfaces of the blade, but unfamiliar with the anticlogging compound. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your video. Tell me please. What kind of stones do you use for sharpening? King? What is the granularity of the stones in turn? 800 grit, 1000 grit, 3000 grit, 8000 grit? Thank you. Regards.
🙏 thanks!!!

hi, which camera and lens model do you use???

I can understand having to hone them up. But is all the stuff with the hoop really necessary?
It is unfortunate that all the products are not available in the US through your links.
what type of oil do you apply at the end?
1:59 which way is the ring installed? Filed side towards handle or end?
which wetstones do you have?
Hello, Which brand of chisels are these? Thanks.
Can I ask why you don't flatten the whole back and just a small part? Won't that affect performance?
The handles on my set of chisels were pretty dry to start with...so the rings just needed a little tap and the ends of handles soaking for a few hours in shallow water, enough to expand... they arrived well sharpened, certainly better than usual chisels...I have sharpened those I have used, but not to the extent that they could be used to amputate my fingers in one go...and that’s fine for me...lol...like someone else stated...if I want to cut paper, I’ll use a Stanley Blade...👍🏻
What was the white powder?
A ơi cho e hỏi cái bột trắng mà a trắc lên là cái bột gì ạ
Now, I know you a great woodworker, but i need to know if this same process can be used by a bladesmith like me when i am putting an edge on blades that i make

Of course it can. The japanese sharpening stones and process are the very best. Japanese swordsmiths are the true OG when it comes too truely sharp and durable blade weapons. Just think samurai sword. 🤙

Hello, at 5:00 in your video, what is the white stone you apply to edge of the brown stone. Does it prevent build up along the edge?

Is the white powder just white compound? What is that?
Do you delivery to Cambodia?
Would you share your preffered stones grit number for this video ,please!

Why are these chisels so bad to begin with? Bad manufacturing?
@darrinc6152
Far from it! They are exeptional out of the box but most craftsman have their own rituals and prefered sharpening techniques etc ie cutting angles, polish grade etc for different applications. Just think if every chisel was hand finished to that standard it would add another $100 per chisel and no one would ever be able to afford them. 🤙🤙
Why do you need to prepare such expensive tools?! I would expect them to be perfect out of the box… 🤔
👍👍👏👏
