Thankyou!I tried it and it worked ! (I had previously tried the “fixes” of pressing hard on the keypad buttons using the palm of your hand and also plugging and unplugging it.) And make sure the ribbon is placed back in securely in its holder after cleaning .

So far so good. Guess time will tell if this is a short-term fix or not. At least for now, I am not buying a new MW and not having HD or L install it. Along with tax I am looking at $425+ otherwise.

Thank you! Question: my new keypad has scratches from someone who used something too abrasive to clean it. I can order a new keypad controller assembly part but was wondering if replacing it on my own is doable? (It is less than a year since purchase but manufacturers considers it cosmetic so it will not cover.). The replacement part is about $99. Otherwise guess I need to see whether it makes sense to replace and have someone install vs buying a new microwave. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. In the video you demonstrated cleaning it by not replacing. Thank you -!!

So I haven’t replaced one myself, but yes it can be done. If the brand matches or you have some assurance that it is compatible, then I would go for it. Especially if you can return it for a refund if needed, then you really don’t have much to lose trying. Sorry couldn’t be more specific, but hoping it all works out for you!

Looks good, thank you. But wont the vinegar corrode the contacts? Why not use alcohol?

If you are sure the ribbon was pushed far enough back in, then yes it sounds like you will need a new keypad or a new microwave

UPDATE- since yesterday, the microwave has sadly reverted to the same error message on the keypad. I tried your remedy a few more times, and it's still not working. Do you have any other ideas/suggestions?

Oh too bad. You cleaned the ribbon with vinegar, right? You could try rubbing alcohol, some people have used that. If still no luck, I am afraid I have no more ideas, sorry. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

there is no need to take the ribbon out to cleaning jus dip the Cotton swab in vinegar and carefully clean the ribbon taje about 10 seconds and you are good to go
