With Kids, Is Brutal Honesty The Best Honesty? | Jarlath Regan | Irish Standup Comedy |
Комедия
Is honesty really the best policy in a world where bending the truth seems like the only way to get anything done? Are we better to tell kids the brutal truth sometimes? Irish standup comedian Jarlath Regan gives one hilarious example of how that worked out for him when his son was 9 years old.

The fact that he's not upset that his kid is lying, but just that he's not lying WELL...that's what kills me 🤣 Like, "Boy, surely I taught you better. Is that the best you've got?"
I once told my two young children I could tell they were lying by touching their tongue with a lolly ice stick as it would change colour (something had been broken in the house). Produced the stick and my daughter ran off and hid in her room…..We have a winner!!!

As kids we were always told that if we lied our tongues would go black. So whenever our parents suspected we were lying, they'd ask us to stick out our tongues. If we refused, bingo.

I pulled in front a store in the country 40 years ago with my son, 3+ years old. I told him I got him from the store and I'm taking him back because he was not behaving. He began crying in the most deep and heaving of ways.....I felt terrible...a few tears back I mentioned it, thinking he wouldn't remember....immediately he said I remember....felt terrible...I hope to believe then and now a great relationship...wouldn't ever mention his drawers
Just an fyi but in America we can them underpants or panties for girls. Pants are what you call trousers.
Why are you cleaning your son's room??!! Can he not pick up his own pants!

@@jigserdotcom Oh he'll clean his room... In a few years when a girl is coming over! You'll know he's interested in one when you don't have to stand there for him to brush his teeth properly! 😁 Until then don't feel bad, I used to hire a cleaner just to clean my son's room!! 🤍
