Madina of Gelhanty, a small and remote village in Sudan’s eastern Red Sea state, has more time to play with friends now that her water burden has been lifted. With funding support from USAID, UNICEF and partners helped rehabilitate and upgrade the community’s water system to run on solar power. Like her peers, Madina no longer has to make the mile or so trek to a faraway stream every day.
