Witch Trials | John Proctor | The MEN Accused in SALEM of Witchcraft
Salem was at the height of hysteria for witchcraft. Accusations were often aimed at women, but begrudged neighbours used the trials as an excuse to get revenge on men that they disliked.
Proctor was the first man in Salem to be accused, his wife was originally accused but when he began to defend her and express his disbelief in the whole thing, the finger was pointed at him. It was suspicious not to believe in witchcraft and only those that were witches would say such a thing.
The Proctors were tried on 5 August 1692, found guilty, and sentenced to death by hanging.

A lot of the accusers was teen girls according to history channel.
It's not a proven thing, but it is likely that the Proctor family were practicing the Protestant version of Jewish Kabbalah. It became popular around that time and would be seen as witchcraft by the mostly Puritan population. Also, am a descendant like everyone else here apparently 😂
It was a scam. The devil's tricks on people.
