I really enjoy digging into guitar songs. Fun to see what makes them tick. I've been doing it since a teen, spinning the turntable with my finger to slow down solos so I could figure them out. I'm not a sort, though I've played with them, that can hear a fast passage and immediately understand it and reproduce it. It takes hours put in. But it's fun. Cheers!

Great way to teach! Even a dummy such as my self can follow along! Much better than some videos that walk you through note by note on the strings and talk the entire time. Very good method here! Thanks!

I figure that most of my audience are competent players and I figure these slowed down play-a-longs suffice for most.

You are welcome. Yeah, this is a Martin OMC Aura from 2008. I'm not sure how long Martin made this model, but it had the different fret markers and a very slim neck and I guess it wasn't a big seller. I love it.

@@snoozedoctor, I think I heard the clip of a song from the album on the Tull website and I thought he sounded pretty good - certainly not as good as the guy singing Witch's Promise, but he passed muster..... I've noticed that you respond to almost every message you're sent and I want to truly thank you for taking the time to personalize your site. I realize how many other requests you've received and I certainly respect all the time and expertise it takes just to do one lesson, so it is with great respect that I suggest / request a lesson on Life's A Long Song at some point. Regardless whether you do or don't this site is a treasure trove for the fantastic content you have provided out of the goodness of your heart, and it is very greatly valued by us all.

Wow, that's a tough one because he's doing all that crazy slide work. I'm not very proficient at slide guitar. He does some amazing work on that song!

@@snoozedoctor Yes actually 3 parts. 1. The figure before the first verse starts. ( When flute and guitar play similar figure). 2 the part when mellotron comes in. 3. There is a part it looks like a walk up on 5-9th fret..like a 4 chord run

@@bonhamcymbal At 6:05 I demonstrate the single note lick played at 19 sec. At 1:05 the chords are C, D (barre chords), A (but only playing the open A string, D string fretted 7th fret and B string fretted 5th fret- all the other strings are muted) then playing C, D, A (same as played before) and then going to E barre chord at 7th fret. That is demonstrated at 9:00. Hope that helps!
