    Brett Holcroft most of the Hellraiser sequels were meant to be original movies. Revelations and Judgement flat out came back with the low quality despite the fact they were made at the last minute possible to retain the trademark. Revelations had barely 3 weeks to make the movie happen.

    I must be the odd one out because this is my favorite of the 4 wishmasters, but then again I also would have given it a different ending and had the female protagonist actually accept the djinn's offer and say Fuck Sam and the rest of the world. Especially the way Sam treats her throughout the movie.

    I don't consider the granting of good wishes a sign of "giving up," but rather a sign of the writers finally coming to their senses and (probably) listening to the thousands of suggestions regarding how stupid it is for a being of supernatural intelligence to warp every, single, wish to the point of making victims too afraid to follow through with his plan. If anything, it spices up the film in a new and clever way...although the opposing lawyer scene is just really bizarre and didn't serve as a negative twist on the wish in any form whatsoever...so the writing is still ultimately bad.

    If i could remake these movies i would make it an anthology series like every movie it is a different djinn in the first movie they have a evil djinn who tries to steal multiple souls to gain power in the second one it has one of the neutral djinn who just wants to make mischief and mayhem and to have fun with the people he gives wishes to but doesn't outright kill them or seriously hurt them since it will ruin his fun so he keeps on doing that until he gets stopped or he gets satisfied and goes to another town to create more mischief mayhem and fun

    With all the horror remakes out there I'm surprised that Wishmaster hasn't been remade yet. I'd totally be down with a remake too as long as they stuck to the rules of the first and got a film maker who loved horror as much as the original one did.

    +Lord of the Reels Yes, I'm with you on this one. However I think the sequel was pretty good... maybe it was because I was new to the series but it made more sense to me for the Djin to be in human form.. and some of the kills are the best in the series like the guy moving through the jail bars.

  • @anactualmotherbear
    @anactualmotherbear6 жыл бұрын

    honestly, this one was my favorite of the bad sequels. Not because it was good though... It was just kind of fun to riff on with friends. I find a villain who can be defeated by a wish to be compelling and sadly that is an aspect that has never been fully explored in the series. With better writers you could make a goofy, bumbling djinn more interesting... more scenes like the one where the security guard tells him to "go away" but without that guy making a stupid second wish. In a way, that sort of a bad guy might even make you root for him because he keeps failing to trap anyone with his awkward literal/interpretive wish granting.

    These did get worse, I thought the first two were pretty good after a few beers on a Friday night. It did have great potential especially if they had kept Divoff, and got some good writers. I swear Jason Thompson has one mode: self-pitying whiner. Is it because he is primarily a soap actor? Maybe.

    Yeah, as someone who wound up in a wheelchair due to illness in 2012 it is kind of offensive the way he is written in this movie. Also, there are ways around his sexual issues, there are always ways around that.

    A better guide to how it should have worked is the X Files Episode Where Mulder Inherits a genie and gets 3 wishes. How it plays out is pure genius.

    It's very bizarre for the gjinn to have some kind of romantic relationship with a character. It's completely out of character for him and just makes no sense. But on that note I will admit it is interesting to see a horror movie villain have that kind of chemistry with the protagonist of the movie. Even if it is in very bland, awkward, makes no sense and is very badly acted.

    I hoped this would be better than Wishmaster 3, oh how naïve I was. The Wishmaster series is very much like the Highlander series and not in a good way.

    Well this movie was kinda weird for a wishmaster movie (in a bad way) maybe that Djinn hit his head or something? The ''angel'' doesn't act as an angel then again make sense if we speak about christian religion just read the bible some content is pretty scary and god is cruel so makes sense make an angel who will chop the head of a poor innocent granny. Also I must say that in some way this ''angel'' is the only thing that makes sense, he appeared after the third wish was casted he wasn't in the first movies as the third wish was not casted by the protagonist or was the casted to outsmart the Djinn. Here the protagonist casted 3 wishes and the angel has time to wake up and for some reason try to murder Lisa and not the Djinn. This part doesn't make sense if she already asked a wish it's up to the Djinn what will happen next how that angel/hunter is supposed to know that Djinn will take so much time in granting her a wish normally it takes him some seconds. And just to get it our of my system Sam was a dick, to the point I started rooting for the lovesick Djinn XD. Yes that bad was the movie, it had a potential of making a different Djinn falling in love with a mortal but without stealing his essence, that scene of him asking love advise... seriously his is an inmortal being with infinite knowledge and especially good instincts to understand human nature to exploit it in his benefice. The Djinn from the first movie would have no problem with this wish. Lisa should have left her ungrateful bf for the lawyer in the first place who seemed a nice guy who actually treated her well and maybe the whole events wouldn't took place. And everyone would have lived happily ever after well except for Sam maybe but who cares about this personage anyway.

    hardly "offended" I get annoyed because they don't start out like that, wishmaster or hellraiser for example start out as clever, interesting and pretty original stories, I get annoyed because they then turn into "trashy", lowest common denominator, lazy, shite.

    @@deusdeaconReviews I don't think you're wrong, I just found it amusing. Also Hellraiser has always been pretty gratuitous with the gore. I do get the annoyance at the overuse of pointless sex tho, that does get a bit ridiculous and seldom adds anything to the film. Usually its a pretty out of left field change of tone. I dunno about other people, but I being in mortal danger wouldn't exactly put me in the mood. But then the majority of horror films aren't really very cerebral, and the ones that start off good have generally done the decent ideas by the end of the first or second instalments. Most of the time I find sequels to be nothing more than phoned in cash grabs riding on the popularity of the original.
