Wishbone Ash's vocal harmonies are too often overlooked. Live Dates is one of the '70's best live albums snd the album Argus is a genuine classic. Thanks for reacting to this.

Sometime World is the 2nd song from the 1972 album Argus, the 3rd album of Wishbone Ash and a real masterpiece (the complete song list) of the inventors of the double lead guitar sound which influenced a lot of twin guitar metal bands, i.e. Iron Maiden. The sound of the band needed a 3 single coil Stratocaster (Ted Turner) and a double humbucker Gibson Flying V (Andy Powell) accompanied by a growling Gibson Thunderbird bass (Martin Turner, no brother of Ted) all put through Orange Tube Amps and the driving drum kit of Steve Upton, not to forget the three string men singing together. Lead vocals on this track were the job of the bassman! At least the world success of this album is also owed to the well eared manager Miles Copeland, the elder brother of Stewart, the drummer of The Police. I saw Wishbone Ash (this line up) live in Dusseldorf, Germany, in the Seventies on a small festival. They were really kicking ass!

Tremendously influential early 70's band that most people haven't heard of. I would encourage further exploration due to you guys being musicians yourselves. Think of the artists you really appreciate from that era, well, this is one of the bands THEY were listening to.

Not surprised by the amazing bass playing here after hearing his bass solo in Handy (1st album).

The King Will Come off this same album. Earworm anyone? They are still performing. I will be seeing them on Cruise to the Edge next week. A 5 day Carribean cruise with 30+ progressive rock bands. So excited.

So many great albums and songs by these guys! The one that's still in constant rotation here is the 1980 album, Just Testing. They also did a more metallic album called Twin Barrels Burning that's worth a listen or two. But this is the original version of the band in fully glory and all these early albums up until Wishbone Four are pretty much the same awesome fare. Everyone needs more Wishbone Ash in their lives.

A song about the inevitable regret resulting from inaction and hesitation, outstanding musicianship by all, to me one of the greatest songs ever, how Martin Turner played that incredible bass line and simultaneously sang is incredulous and Andy Powell's lead guitar is off the scales!

They are still around and touring. 2 bands, the so called official one and Martin Turner's band, both who I've seen recently. This is from 1972, from the album Argus, one of my all time favourite albums. When it was released I was heavily into Tolkien and this album dovetailed the 2 mediums brilliantly. There's 2 different guitar players on this, Andy Powell and Ted Turner. Think Ted did the first solo and Andy the outro They've done over 25 albums, the last one released in 2020. Good reaction guys

Great Reaction to one of MY Groups that I, regularly, saw at major London venues in 1972/73 when I first started going to gigs, over 50 years ago... ARGUS: UK Album Of The Year in 1972 and Wishbone Ash were the first real TWIN GUITAR Group: Andy Powell/Ted Turner with a terrific Engine Room of Martin Turner(no relation) and the original superb frummer:Steve Upton.

Yes! You just opend the door to my teenage room where I would be floating away listening to the music of Wishbone Ash. That guitar and that kind of easy jazzy rhythmic groove just blows you away. I loved their first album, second side, with the songs "Handy" and "Phoenix". Thank´s for this reminder!

Great reaction to a great band . I was lucky enough to see them several times in the 1970s & they were fantastic live .. . Check out ," Live Dates" from 1973 . A superb live album with not a single overdub added unlike many bands. They were a great infusion of rock , English folk music & , blues. So versatile & incredibly tight as a band . As you mentioned Martyn Turners bass which is almost like a third lead guitar at times is amazing as is Steve Upton on drums. Pioneers of the twin leads guitar sound which was copied by so many later bands such as Iron Maiden , Thin Lizzy , Judas Priest etc . Enjoy .

Glad You Peeps enjoyed this ! This band are Ace ! Twin leads ! The Album cover is a double fold out effort ! The back of which shows a flying saucer in the sky ! This Band have a unique sound ! If you wondered what Ancient Britain sounded like ! if they had a Gibson Flying "V" and a Strat etc ! then look no further !

Great track from one of the all-time great albums. When I bought it back in 73 the cover photo had a flying saucer just visible in one of the top corners. I guess Majestic-12 must have had it removed from later pressings.

'Argus' by Wishbone Ash, back in 1972 I bought this album. The first album i ever bought. What a way to start a record collection. Today, 52 years later, it still sits in my top 10 albums of all time. Also check out, from the same album, 'Throw Down The Sword', the finest closeout track to an album you'll ever hear.

's for Yes!! Great tune to check out. Excellent band to delve into! Twin guitars dualling. Crunchy killer bass. Great band! First 4 albums and Live Dates are OG band. Reformed in the 1980's for 2 more albums. Many other iterations, but OG is my favorite. Saw the band twice, but not original.

You should have seen that album cover when it was fully opened up....2 foot wide...it showed the valley below with a small saucer ship almost hidden in the mist of the valley floor.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, that all we had to listen to add that time was LP(long playing) record albums which came in a 12 inch by 12 inch sleeve...The Argus album opened up to reveal the 12 by 24 inch painting...and it was both subtle and striking....The second side of the album had a sequence of tunes that conveyed a story/feeling when played all at one listening....which was the way we listened to music in those years.
