One the most underrated bands, and yet there are many rock bands that cite them as their influence, especially the twin lead guitars.

Their constant "double lead " is so unique.....it's not a gimmic , it's their sound. Beautiful.

As well as the wonderful twin lead guitars, Martin Turner's superlative bass playing and Steve Upton's sensitive drumming deserve an honorable mention. Argus is their masterpiece, an album I rate as practically perfect, but many of their others are excellent too.

Another rabbit hole! Pioneers of the twin lead guitar sound. Others will point out classic Ash tracks but some of my favourites are Blowin' Free, The King Will Come and Lorelei. I can't find a bad track on their album New England although Argus is considered their classic album.

Agreed, my era watching Wishbone Ash was on the There's The Rub tour - and them many more after that! Of course Argus is a masterpeice but There's The Rub and New England rarely get a mention but both tremendous albums.

Yay!! Thanks ! Yay ! So glad you both enjoyed "Wishbone Ash " they are just so talented and original ! they have such a great back catalog ! Really a proper adventure on the way ! The Album "Argus" is a gem ! think I already mentioned the live version of Throw Down the Sword is a bit different to the studio version as the guitars over lap each other a tad more on the studio version ! The Album "New England " is just Ace !! Thanks again !Cheers

I saw this band ~ 15 times throughout my life , long before the internet. Just say they inspired me to pick up the guitar 46 years ago. Both " Wishbone Ash's are still on the road playing gigs. I love both bands. I hope you have an equal opportunity to listen to more of the original band, and then with Laurie Wisefield..

Wishbone Ash - the greatest band you never heard. Been a fan since ‘73. They added some embellishments on this version on this album (I think this cover art is Live Dates II) since the original & they are excellent but I like the original. I remember seeing them perform this on tv in 73 (it’s on YT) and was hooked. They have had many line ups over the years with Andy Powell (Flying V) the only original member remaining & leading the band. They have been making new original music up until a few years ago and remain excellent.

Wishbone Ash is worth exploring some more. My favorite Live version of this song was recorded at Rockpalast around '78, both guitar solos are FIRE! Hat's off to Martin Turner for singing, and playing Bass. I can sing, but I can't play at the same time. Some more modern vids to watch, are "Come in from the Rain" (without Martin Turner), and Martin Turner's "Written in the Stars". W. A. came out when I was 10, but Ijust discovered them this year.

Great reaction to a superb live band, i was lucky enough to see them live many times here in the U.K. in the 70s. i would highly recommend the live in concert video version of : Blowin Free , its 7' 59'' long , featuring the original line up when Ted Turner rejoined the band & has some blistering guitar work as you'd expect from first Andy Powell & then Ted at the end . Enjoy .

two versions of the band still tour in the UK. Andy Powell one of the lead guitarist won the legal battle to keep the name. Martin Turner the bassist tours under the name of "Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash". I go to see Martin regularly as he concentrates on keeping it as original early 70s as possible.

A gorgeous song from a band that was a great band in their earlier years. Sadly they couldn't keep this up for ever. But, if you liked what you heard, try albums 1-5 & 7 from their early discography. I would recommend skipping their 6th album 'Locked In', which was a bad misstep for them, but the other 6 albums I've mentioned are all classics. Of course their legendary album is their 3rd, 'Argus'. Oh and what a fantastic live rendition of a much loved WA song.
