This was a goofy time for the B10. Leaders Division and Legends Division. Nebraska won't make another conference championship game for a long time. Until Iowa and Bucky go into major slumps, they won't see success again. I moved to Lincoln a few months after this game, and they whine more than Bears fans. I'm glad I'm back in Sconnie.

Badgers are going to have to be as creative as this if they are going to have a chance against Ohio State. So obviously the buckeyes aren't going to get burned by a simple endaround 12 times, but maybe some wildcat formations and halfback passes or something.

No game illustrated the strengths and weaknesses of Bialima than this game. As you may know, this was his last game as Bucky's coach (He left for Arkansas after this game). No Badger game had anywhere close to this level of creative play calling, and the Huskers were completely bamboozled. In terms of future NFL players, this team had to have the most (At least 10). Besides the 3 backs already cited, there were both of JJ Watt's brothers, Travis F and other OLs, Abbradaris, Borland, and maybe others. Yet this team lost 5 games (Think of what Chryst or Alvarez could have done with this talent). Bret was the best recruiter we have ever had, but was a mediocre at best game coach (I place Barry and Paul ahead of him in this regard). basically, he beat the teams he should, but came up short in the big games (This game being the exception). Barry has no peer as a big game coach, but did not recruit the blue chippers. As stated earlier, Bret was the best recruiter.. Where does Paul stand? As a recruiter, he's not quite at Bret's level, but is better than Barry. As a big game coach, he's as fiery as Barry, but is a capable strategist. With a little bit of luck, I could see him getting us in the playoff, and maybe winning it all. There is a lesson that Chryst can take from this game going into our showdown with OSU. No body gives us a chance, might as well go for broke! The wildcats, fly sweeps, reverses, and throws to the backs. Heck, how about flea flickers, fake kicks and onsides? We saw what happened when we tried to take them straight up. If we get blown out, heck that's what the so called experts think will happen any how. But I don't think that's what would happen. We would jump on them like we did here, and race to an early lead. OSU would find themselves being pressed harder than they were by PSU. They would be in unfamiliar territory, and would need to dig down for qualities they have not yet needed. then the whole nation would find out if the are true champs, and we would firm up our foundation as title contenders in the future. Great Badger classic Jacob! I hope that it foreshadows great things for Saturday!

Well Saturday started off as a great game, but I knew when we were up 14 at half I just felt like it was gonna go poorly. I do think chryst coached very well, they were just a better team. I’m starting to see higher recruits signing with us so hopefully we start to get the talent to beat Ohio state and get into the playoffs. We will also see if JT stays and whether mertz or coan starts next year!

Cant say Paul cant recruit. He has brought in back to back record breaking classes into Madison and is in the top 10 for next years class as well as being a top 15 school nationally and winning 13 games in a season on top of leading Wisconsin to the top 5 in win percentage in the last 5 years. And we SHOULD have beat OSU but of course we dont make the needed halftime adjustments.

  • @indigoscout

@@jonasrhude2325 I never said that. You do make a great point of Paul's recent successes in getting us to the top tier of recruiting. Only time will tell how good his players become as they go pro (And hopefully win big for us). What I will say is Paul is not the natural that Brett was, but has had to work very hard to develop this talent (To give Brett credit, Paul probably learned a thing or 2 from him). And Paul, was the OC for this game. In time, let's see if it comes to fruition. GO BIG RED!

Chryst has steadily gotten more and more recruits that Wisconsin usually would come up just short on, even in the Bielema days. Few things sell like success. Player development also helps; Coan was forced into a trial by fire back in 2018 but really came along nicely this past year. Hopefully the receivers see some development; a lot of good to decent players are graduating in the next couple years.
