Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Freight Train
WW&F #9 and Monson #3 put on a show for us photographers, recreating the two-foot gauge railroading that was once the mainstay of the remote corners of Maine.
The WW&F is an ever expanding 1:1 scale recreation of the original Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway based in Alna, Maine. Consider visiting their museum, going for a train ride, or even donating or volunteering! Visit their website:

Thank you! Your compliments mean a lot! I hope to return someday soon. :)
The opening sequence as No.9 accelerates her train is superb. Whoever set her valves did a good job - nice and square.
Excellent video! I've seen few people utilize a regular ole puddle to make one hell of a shot. This is certainly one of the best videos on the WW&F
An outstanding video of an amazing scenic railway I'm proud to be a member; thank you so much for shooting it and share it. I love the black and white shooting of the run through freight train at Alna Center. Congratulations and come soon on the WW&F.

That was one of my favorite scenes as well. The antique car and the smoke coni out of the chimney at Alna center were so perfect. The WW&F is a magical place. I hope to come back soon!
Great video, Joe! It’s almost like you traveled back in time to get some of these shots!
Awesome video! Those little 2-footers are so underrated!

They can really get up and go, too!
Poetry in motion. : ) Thank you Joseph for sharing your gift of film. Clearly the Maine Event! Thank you to all the volunteers.
Nice video! I’ve been here as well and the people there are so nice. Keep up the great work, your videos are always a masterpiece.
Love the maine 2ft narrow gauge
Absolutely amazing railroad equipment. Love the 2 Footers!
Wow. I am speechless! Incredible production quality! Great videography as well! All around wonderful video! 12/10!
Great camera work. Thanks
An excellent video. Great photography, helped by some great sound effects and steam displays by the loco crew!
Nice one, Joe! Great sound on these guys
Another fantastic production. Amazing work, Joe!
Built by the Portland Company in 1891 in Portland Maine, locomotive 9 originally ran for the Sandy River Railroad as engine #5. It later operated on several different railways with different road numbers, such as SR&RL #6, Kennebec Central #4 in 1924, and as WW&F #9 in 1933. Acquired from the WW&F Railway in 1995 where it went through a twenty-year restoration, it returned to active service in the spring of 2016 where it now operates excursion trains for the railway.
Love this! I haven’t seen the channel in a while but this was splendid!
Wonderful video!!!
Stunning footage! Great job!
Fantastic production!
Awesome, very well done.
Not everyday you get the chance to photograph trains this size
How have you not been hired to work on a documentary yet?

It is quite the pocket rocket!
Proper speed on proper narrow gauge!
What whistle is that @0:55? It sounds absolutely magnificent.

It is a single chime. I believe it was custom made for #9. Perhaps someone from the WW&F can “chime” in.

It's a in-house copy of a 6 inch Portland Company style single note. It was made from patterns created from PortCo drawings by a WW&F member and machined by another member.
Hi from Green Bay. GO Packers!! Do you have a mail car R.P.O. It would be great if you could catch the mail on the fly. Plus, have the station agent hoop up some train orders ok. Thank you. GOD bless the U.S.A!!!!!
Cool video!! I thought #3 was down for her FRA inspection. Also, any news on when they will start working on expanding the line?

It is down, this was one of its last runs before its inspection. They are working on it now! The whole railroad is nothing short of a success story. Can’t wait to return.
Did you know that there were trains in Mexico
