    Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. kzread.infoUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

    Hello. I have a front and rear doorbell. I want to eliminate my rear doorbell. By simply disconnecting the rear terminal wire, will that be enough or do I need to do something else?

    Can you split the wire to make 2 separate chime connections? My chime burnt out when contractor was working on front door install (but he has no idea what could have caused it; LOL) I wanted to put double chimes side by side to replace old one (increasing DBs in same location); took the wire that was existing that was connected to burnt chime and spliced 2 new wires in (all 3 reds in one wire nut and all 3 blacks in the other). I already had 30amp transformer bc I wanted to this originally but never did. Thanx in advance for the help!

    I purchased an Utilitech transformer (#0063548) that has three voltage settings (8V, 16V, & 24V) to replace a Nutone C905 transformer with one voltage setting (16V) for my doorbell. No matter what setting I put them on, both transformers only produce just over 4 volts when they are tested with my volt meter. I'm assuming something is screwy with the power source leading to the receptacle. Also, there's another wire leading out of the receptacle, but I have no idea what it leads too. Can you give me some advice on what possibly could be the reason why my transformers are not producing the correct voltage??? Supposedly, per the electrician who wired my townhouse, 120 volts is coming off the voltage source leading to the receptacle. He wants to charge me $120 to replace the transformer plus the cost of a new transformer. It sounds like the electrician has a real good extra moneymaking scheme going on here, especially with people who are replacing low voltage devices that require a little more voltage that the original device.

    if you test the wiring with a meter and get 120volt to neutral there is no problem. I would then assume the transformer has an issue

    not sure but you shouldn't need the 3rd one but you may keep it just incase a wire goes bad, then you have a backup

    I tried installing a new transformer, door chime, and door button at my new house but ended up giving up because there's something wrong. The thing is, I'm not sure if there's a short in the wiring or if the transformer is bad. Im getting 120V into the transformer and then 18V out of the transformer. I connected the white wire to T and the red wire to Rear (since that's supposed to give me the single "ding"). It worked but after like 30 minutes, the transformer got really hot, the chime box began to "buzz", and the white wire connected to the door button started to burn. Im using the old wiring that came with the house. Can you tell me what the issue may be, any suggestions, should I rewire everything from scratch, might the equipment I bought be faulty? Im at a loss.

    Without looking at it I couldn't tell you exactly but it sounds like your transformer went bad. If your 120v is holding steady and your not having any fluctuation then it's not a voltage issue. Unless you made bad connections at the transformer, loose possibly but thats unlikely. Also test and make sure you get 120volts Hot to Neutral and not just Hot to ground. You may want to watch my other doorbell video on this channel. Its a better quality video for wiring up doorbell. Maybe you made a mistake somewhere with your low voltage wiring.

    probably on your electrical panel. If not somewhere in the attic attached to a junction box. It cannot be buried inside a wall so just look for it.

    Decent instructions but would be a lot better if the unit was right side up not upside down, and camera recording wasn't jerking all over the place quickly. Very difficult to follow.

    Will a 12v testing battery work for power?

  • @33electric33

    @33electric33

    7 жыл бұрын

    Most likely not because the stepped down voltage from the transformer is still Alternating current, so it will most likely only operate with that.

    Usually in the electrical panel maintenance closet. Easy circuit in. But really, you can put it wherever you can pick up 120volts. Just put it in an approved electrical box so the 120volt connection will be to code.

    I had 2 chimes delivered and the one I grabbed to test in the video ended up being defect. Realized that after vid, but the other one worked and went ding dong. Sent this one back, had it replaced. I installed 3 of these chimes at my customers house with this particular transformer and exact wiring in vid and they worked great. All 3 went ding dong. Thanks for your question.

    It’s actually because it’s a 3 wire bell and he doesn’t know how to wire both sides. When you press the bell button it “dings” and when you release the button it “Dongs”.
