Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto on any car* while keeping your radio! Carpuride W103
Ойындар
* Please note you need a cigarette lighter/12v power outlet.
This is NOT an ad. I purchased this with my own money and have not had any communication with Carpuride.
Unboxing, setup, and review of the Carpuride W103 portable wired/wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto head unit. Good for older cars without infotainment systems or with infotainment systems without Apple Carplay or Android Auto.
Use your compatible GPS navigation apps, music apps, send and receive phone calls and texts; all while remaining hands free.
Setup will depend on your car with what is in the box. The mounting suction cup arm does not stick well to all dashboards, so be wary of that. it hooks better to the windshield. Also this unit is over 2 lbs. in weight, so it will not hang from your windshield, and should be resting on your dashboard.
For using it with your car's FM radio via the FM transmit feature, experiment with stations to find a clear sounding station. Also note that on long trips where you are switching radio markets, you may have to adjust to an unused frequency in different markets. Pull into a rest stop or take an exit and find some place to park to change that.
Bluetooth transmit will not work on every make or model car or radio that has Bluetooth connectivity.
If your car/radio has an auxiliary port, use that if Bluetooth connectivity does not work.

Hi. Nice demo. I also have one of these units. The bluetooth didn't work with my car even though my phone can stream with no issues. I use aux and also had the distortion and had to compensate by turning the W103 volume down. However, this issue was solved by buying a ground loop isolater. This cost me £6 -£7, totally worth it. Hope this helps someone.
Plug the cables in BEFORE you try to mount the unit, and when in doubt read the instructions.😊
the reason why it wouldn't stick to the dash is because you have to stick it on the disc which you thought was for screwing and then attach that disk on the dash with the sticky tape.
Use 3M double sided weight for 10lb items. Pick a spot where you want to mount it, heat the adhesive with a lighter to make the tape super sticky and then mount. The 3m willl e more secure and stuck until you remove with a heat gu n etc
Nice video thanks for showing it I've been looking at these I've been leaning towards the roadtop it has double Bluetooth so you can connect phone to unit and unit to car they both seem really good though

The W103 also has this feature-- but I think the smaller 7" and 9" versions don't as of yet. Unfortunately, they do mention it may not work with every make/model car with Bluetooth audio. My car requires a pin on its stock radio (2017 Nissan Altima), and there is no key pad that pops up to enter it. It's not a big deal, as Altimas have had an AUX port for a long time, now. Good luck with whatever you end up getting.
Very good video
Nice Review
at the point when your clock says 4:20 the time elapsed is 40:02...I'm grown..lol
Judging from 36:32, it looks like a major change that's happened since the original review is that you now have the new "Coolwalk" split screen interface for Android Auto, which means that Android Auto now properly spans the full width of the interface, rather than it being fixed to the standard width window, and Carpuride filling in the side of the interface with either clocks / navigation windows or media controls. Which means Carpuride can actually remove the "Note: A-Auto and MirrorLink cannot be full screen" note from their product listing - it seems that at least for Android Audio that is thankfully no longer true.

Coolwalk did roll out to me in the week or so between filming, yes. I don't personally use the screen mirroring features, so I can't tell you if they go full screen or not.. All the widgests are in a small section on the left, and right under the signal/clock part is where notifications, like text messages, will show up if you have them. Just press the number of notifications and it will bring them up on the screen. If you get a text while driving, it shrinks the right window and puts the notification there.
Also, could you give more details about the call setup you are using? What is the sound quality? How the others hear you during a call?
Enjoyed the video. I just got a smaller Carpuride W609. The back gets pretty warm to almost hot. Does your unit get warm on the back side? Did you get the CD mount to work? I saw a CD mount on Carpuride 's website. Unfortunately it does not work in my Nissan factory Bose CD player.
Wasted over 5 minutes trying to mount to the dash when it’s extremely clear that mount has to be mounted to the windshield or disc that was supplied. 🙄🙄🤦♂️🤦♂️
Lol . This is why you see 100 reviews of 5 stars on something and 7 people that rate it at 1
Where do u find the right cd player mount??
What was the red cord for? Did you hook up your phone directly to the unit at some point? Thanks
Nice thorough review I only got one question - is it possible to install additional applications, like ABRP, on the unit ?

I watched several Carpuride video reviews and noticed that there is no Google Play Store app which means it's a closed Android OS. This will prevent you from installing additional applications. Not sure if you could sideload apps. This is a major flaw and the reason I chose not to purchase the device.

Not that I am aware of. Everything you would use on it would be from your phone and only if it works with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

@@SamAltersitz Thanks for your answer - I was afraid of that. One could speculate - that it is something that is out of the hands of Carpuride.
Hello sir, I have a nissan altima 2017 and I have the same issue when installing the carpuride. I really want to install it in the middle but the curve is annoying do you have any solution for it
You think it can be mounted on the existing rear view mirror? It looks thin enough.

This particular unit weighs just over 2 lbs. So I wouldn't personally recommend it. The weight was why I had so much of an issue getting the suction cup to stick to the dashboard, and eventually,-as seen in the review part,-stuck it to my windshield with it low enough to still rest its weight on the dashboard.
This is the first unpaid review that gives you real information and not all bullshit
I have the same in my Honda accord, and I have the same problem with the Bluetooth. This is not your pixel. I have a Samsung and I have the same problem. I hope they fix it with an update

phone use is junk , does everything else ok except phone ......cant get any volume ... in process of returning unit , not fit for purpose
Hey, if you change your car Bluetooth pin to 0000 instead of 1234, the unit might work in Bluetooth transmit ??
@luckeyyyyy

it didn't work because he was searching for a phone device instead of a bluetooth media or his radio doesn't support a2dp bluetooth
@SamAltersitz

My radio is the stock 2017 radio, so it might not support a2dp.
The bracket is for the windshield not for the dash
@SamAltersitz
Жыл бұрын
They claim it can be for either. But it might also depend on the texture and shape of the dashboard. You'll notice in the review part, it is hooked up to the windshield. At least until I get the right bracket to hook to my CD player mount.

@@skin2bone93 won't matter, anymore. It's currently in my windshield, but I just ordered the official CD player mount. I'll do a new video on the mount and how it works after it arrives. About 2 weeks to ship from China, and then another week of using it, so 3-4 weeks.
Is this nick cage?
The 10 doesn't come with it. The 9does which don't make much sense
This was like watching Laurel and Hardy 😂😂😂 You ain’t got a clue !
Crap-uride. Only has 1 cam & literally no features outside carplay/AA. Plus it's Linux 👎. Not to mention cust service is abysmal.
