Wire Wrapping Time Lapse Tutorial - Obsidian Part 1

Find Part 2 here: • Wire Wrapping Time Lap...
In this time lapse project, I will show you my process as I create a custom creation for a friend. I have lightly captioned it for your convenience, but this is meant to be more of a visual tutorial than step by step. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have! Just comment below!
Because he purchased the materials for this project, I did not keep track of every inch used. It is a free form project, and I let the wires flow as they wanted.
This obsidian piece goes way back with my friend and I; it started as a lovely lump he used as a paperweight, and very much enjoyed. In 2009, I was granted access to lapidary equipment, with mild instruction. He sent me his lump to play with, and I was able to fashion a semi-decent “crystal point” from a piece of the original. (Not bad for my very first try!) I wrapped it in copper for him, and for a few years he wore it. However, as my skills advanced, we both saw room for improvement! I have since re-wrapped it a couple times, each time better than the last. This will hopefully last several more years before we change our minds again!
Wire used is sterling silver
Beads used are emerald and kyanite
Main stone is obsidian

  • @AubreyBouck_Brandavir

    @AubreyBouck_Brandavir

    in order of the quantity of wire, how is it calculated on the basis of the project? And how is the project created: in outline or drawing every single scroll of the thread?

  • @AubreyBouck_Brandavir

    @AubreyBouck_Brandavir

    5 жыл бұрын

    I usually measure it as I use it, and sometimes I draw up a rough idea, and other times I just go with the flow. For this one, the owner had a slight idea of what he wanted, so I sketched it out, got his approval, and then let the wire mostly flow around the design. It didn't look exact, but he loved it.

    This is not a tutorial. it's merely a timelapse/sped-up video. However, it does have some ideas projecting at us. There's many ways to weave, and it should be intuitive that it's entirely up to us and our sense of style and method. The maker of the video is merely demonstrating.
