A lot of different companies make these same wire strippers, I actually have a set of Irwin ones that I got from Lowe's and they work great, they are some of the best wire strippers I've ever had!

This was my 1st wire stripper bought for home use. What i can say is this: it works, especially it woks well on thicker gauge (16awg to 8awg) wire. Bottom line is this: 1. if you do not need to be very accurate with stripping, b/c you doing general house work, tool like this is enough. 2. If you are doing wiring which requires more accuracy and you are using thinner or stranded wire, (30awg to 18awg) get yourself a calibrated cutting stripper. 3. For extremely accurate stripping, and very thin wires (thinner than 26 awg), you will need a thermal stripper.

It's not good for stripping two or three core double insulated flat or round cables used in various appliances like table fan, heaters, microwaves, Air-conditioners etc but only those Romex cables. It's only good for stripping single individual wires and that too we need to adjust the pressure knob sometimes trial and error else it damages some strands. I have personally used it made by another manufacturer and found it semi-automatic and not fully automatic and it should have been precalibrated so that the user need not do any adjustments while working!

I still own a pair, but after 2 years of heavy trade use ,stripping wires from 1.5 mm to 4 mm, its now pretty clapped out. I don't use anymore, because the jolt the tool gives when the insulation breaks free from the conductor, causes RSI in my wrist. Other than that they lasted longer then i thought.
