Testing Wifi Smart Plugs with Energy Monitoring.
In this Part-3, we test the Wipro and Aviga 16 A Smart plugs. Both of the plugs work well in home automation for switching ON and OFF Appliances. We can remotely Turn ON/OFF, Schedule ON/OFF and Countdown ON/OFF the Appliances with both IOT plugs. In terms of Electricity monitoring, sadly Wipro fails in monitoring electricity accurately while Aviga monitors accurately. We test both of the IoT plugs with standard HTC Power Meter and found Aviga Electric data are more accurate than Wipro smart plug. So in conclusion, If you are buying a smart plug for electricity monitoring, then Aviga is the best choice to buy and it is cheap. While for remote operation both IoT Plugs are equal.

All the Smart plug that looks similar design are rebranded Chinese item. When seeing this video, it looks to be similar. If i am correct, tuya is manufacturer of this both brand. The simple way to check this is remove the device from the respective brand application, install smartlife app and set the device to paring mode. If your smart device is detected in that app, then manufacturer is tuya. This is not only applicable to smartplug, but also IR blaster, smart bulb, smart fan controllers and etc I purchased wipro smart plug and zebronics IR blaster. During my smart home automation project, i discovered this. Also This power consumption data was accurate in my wipro 10A smart plug during initial days. But after a year, 10A power plug started showing 500W utilization all the time even no device connected. If wipro device is the problem, then this is applicable to all the device manufactured by tuya including Avigo

It doesnt matter whether you're purchasing Wipro, syska or other same looking product. All are rebranded item from the manufacturer tuya. Wipro green board has only F1 but has no F2. Otherhand the blackboard device has both F1 & F2. I have a Smart plug that looks same as this videos plug. The problem is this F2 is damaged with my 11.8A 2Ton General AC, that's why my smart wifi plug goes not working condition. Then I pulled out wire from a cable and attach two poles of F2 with this wire. Finally, my plug is now running condition with low amp appliances. Then I use it for that 2 ton AC and the f2 fuse wire is damaged instantly with bust sound when the AC Compressor starts and also circuit breaker down. Note: Don’t try this without help of skilled electrician. I have a fault that I use copper wire instead of fuse wire. Fuse wire made with Tin and Lead alloy which has low melting point and high resistance.

Hi, I'm using wipro smart plug which is using same power monitoring chip(BL0937).I've connected the plug at input end of inverter thinking I can measure the power consumed for charging , standby and loads (fans and lights) which are connected to inverter . But am getting strange results , such as the plug is only measuring power consumption of charging and standby but not the loads connected to it. My inverter bypasses the main supply directly to the connected load. But if I'm understanding correctly it should not stop the measurement , because I've connected at input of inverter which used for charging and bypasses to load when fully charged . Can someone help me to understand the behaviour. Thanks in advance
