If all the negativity disappeared, so would the positivity. Dream and nightmare were created to protect the tree of feelings and to keep the balance between negativity and positivity.

Yep, but if Nightmare died with all the apples of the tree, there would still be Dream's soul, which is a positive apple, so that's why positivity still exists as Dream's soul is the only source of positivity

I LOVE this concept. I think I might use this in my series, Kattitale, which I will now describe in a way that is (mostly) spoiler-free. Kattitale is a confused AU-T, or Alternate Universe-Timeline, which means that it doesn't know if it's an AU or an AT. In Kattitale, we begin with monsters having lived on the surface for 17 years, but they still haven't seen any humans except for Frisk. One day, however, monsters start to disappear. We investigate this mystery, all while being stalked by a shadowy, feline figure. We solve the mystery, then confront the culprits in a climactic season finale... But the monsters are losing, and by a large margin, when that shadowy figure leaps out and saves the day! Politics, peace, and pursuit follow as the perspective alternates from Asgore and the other monsters to the people who went to find the mysterious stranger. The latter of the two finds a whole new civilization on the southern side of Mt. Ebbot. They explore this new society and make alliances and stuff. Then we spend the third season finding out the secret of Sans' backstory and the inner demons of my OCs. Then, just when it seems like the story is over, an angelic form descends from the sky, shrouded in golden light. She is badly injured, and she has no memory of what happened, or who she is, for that matter. We help her find the three objects that restore her to her true self, and she thanks our main trio of Sans, Frisk, and the shadowy hero named Kate, with a powerful gift. In the final season, season 7, we can finally explore other fandoms, such as FNAF or Kirby or Mario or MHA. In the final episode, we find... Wait, I said mostly spoiler free, and that means I can't say what happens in the final episode... Oh well! Guess that's where this ends, then. Maybe, in the 6th season, when we're fixing everything, Killer might return to his universe and find out about that, then learn about how his actions had consequences for the Surface... Hmmmm... Thanks for the idea though! You're awesome, and I will let you know the moment I get the story started.

@@-Qarus- okay thr logic you're abiding by is actually the same one the villagers went with which is actually false they are not responsible for the feelings of others while their auras can affect people nightmare definitely more they depend on the feelings others more than the feelings of others depend on them their job was to protect the tree they are gurdians nightmares aura can spread negativity throughout an au but that's mostly due to the apples he's ate but he's not solely responsible for negativity itself.

Basically because he is the guardian of negativity, and if he didn't exist negativity wouldn't either, cuz dreamtale and the feeling were for all the Aus and Nightmare was the one giving the Aus negativity, so that means that if Nightmare disappears negativity also would disappear

@@bearthebeast5917 Alright lemme explain again lol, in this Au Nightmare ate the apple and he died, and you know in Dreamtale Dream had a positive apple cuz when Nightmare touched one all of the apples turned black. So if Nightmare died with all the positive and negative apples that meant the negativity disappeared, but not the positivity bc Dream had the last positive apple, and even if Nightmare didn't die but all the apples turned black that would mean there would still be negativity cuz Nightmare's soul is basically a negative apple, and if he died with the apples that meant there wasn't even one negative apple left

The Au doesn't make sense since nightmare didn't do anything for them to live through those things, yes he's the guardian of negativity but he doesn't control the sanses fates through it, also if nightmare doesn't exist then dream would have to be the guardian of positivity AND negativity for the sake of balance, which would lead to dream experiencing a different life (it would be interesting to see if he would be so loved as in the original considering he in this Au should also be the guardian of the negativity), so the stories of the different sans wouldn't change in the start, but rather at the end (when killer becomes killer, when dust/murder become dust/murder and so on, AFTER they live through all we know, then their future should what changes, after the devastation of their Au's and lives, what path do they lead? After all the "bad guys/sanses" wouldn't exist, and the "star sanses" also wouldn't exist or at least not how we know them). Edith: I reached the part of Dream's description and it makes less sense, if nightmare originally existed and then died then everyone (everyone in every Au) should have died due to a collapse caused by the destroyed balance in the emotions, if positivity and negativity don't coexist (no matter the amount of each) then nothing can exist.

​@@-Qarus-​Read my edit, I said that before reaching Dream's description so I didn't know nightmare originally existed but then died. Since you said "a multiverse without nightmare" I expected he originally didn't exist, so if he never existed then when Nim died (the original guardian of the tree) she created a guardian of both negativity and positivity (it can be Dream of another new sans entirely, but in case it weren't Dream then it would be "a multiverse without DREAM AND NIGHTMARE" so considering your Au only excludes nightmare then Dream has to be the guardian of both negativity and positivity. Though in that case he should go by another name since he's called "Dream" for being the guardian of positivity, for example people call SD! Dream "shad" even though he's another Dream)

​@@-Qarus- My whole point is that negativity CAN'T disappear and if it does THEN EVERYTHING will collapse, nightmare was created to guard the negativity, but before he existed Nim protected it, so if nightmare ORIGINALLY IN YOUR AU doesn't exist then after Nim dies then someone else should be created by Nim to take care of the negativity.

Yep, point it (Not saying it in a mean way Btw) And also... If negativity didn't exist, wouldn't that mean there's no way anything bad could happen cuz it's all puppys and rainbows? And considering that Dreamtale is basically where positive and negative feeling come from, this means they would exist before any other Aus, so what i made is that the Aus were on their normal history, but when Nightmare (And basically all negativity) died, they didn't get a bad ending cuz it isn't posible without Negativity.

@@-Qarus- XGASTER was given OVERWRITE, or soemthing like that had it form the start, he didn't have any other power. To progress in similar path to the original you don't need strong negative emotions. Just like with determination Ink was a sketch, something outside of the multiverse. Not created fully. Destroyed his soul,etc He finds himself in empty world, finds paint,etc ,at some point gets access to multiverse. Everything point to Creator having interesting in him and creating him fully. The concept of negativity can't be erased just like that if creators create and PLAYERS influence the AUS Even that won't stop Chara and Frisk taking genocide options. You don't have to have strong negative emotions, like hate. All you need is bad mood, boredom and curiosity. So Aftertale would still happen. At least to a point. Maybe he wouldn't get so negative...or would. Because he would have determination and would be in a void

In there the stuff escalated from strong negative emotions If I remember right only Killertale had a Player/narrator/creator but they didn't do genocides Frisk was doing it, they just observed. Normally Sans doesn't have ability to chose to accept a deal with Chara. He can only refuse. Doesn't matter if he would wnat to do that or not. But player gave Sans that abbility, opportunity to choose and to accept Chara's deal or not. And they accepted

Nightmare don't exist didn't mean dust will do something like talk with a human wtf?
