Actually at first India was pretty pro-soviet so yeah, it's just politics, at that time Nixon being friendly to China was actually more possible because of the Sino-Soviet Split and would pose much more of a threat since China is right at the Soviet border. The US doesn't really care about "democracies" since they have no problem with countries like Saudi Arabia, as long as there are benefits.

The role played by Indira Gandhi in '71 is resounding. She displayed shrewd and analytical mind when she appreciated the terrain analysis expounded by COAS which clearly suggested that any attack before and during the rainy season will restrict the move of the Army to roads , making it a sitting duck. She asked COAS to address Pak Army on the All India Radio , assuring humane treatment if it surrendered. Had such assurance been conveyed by letter, it certainly would not have been believed . This assurance on AIR was heard by the entire World and was now binding on India. This resulted in Pak Army lowering resistance to surrender, more so as Seventh Fleet had failed to arrive in time in support.

I was surprised that this video doesn't even mention the fact that Tibetan SFF army played an instrumental role in winning this India's war with Pakistan in 1971. Beyond this, SFF won over the Kargil war in 1990s, at Siachen glacier and most recently capturing the vantage points in Ladakh border with China. (Actually, Tibetan area, presently occupied by China).

Let us be fair to Pakistan because in 1971, it was Pakistan Civil War. The Pakistan Armies were not equipped & prepared for full scale war with India. But India, cowardly took advantage of the Pakistan Civil War and launched a full scale invasion of East Pakistan.

There is a proverb in Hindi "Naach na aawe, aangan tedha" which means if you don't know how to dance, you start blaming the floor, now this analogy fits very much on your attempt to defend Pakistani defeat.

My Uncle was part of Indian Navy Operation Trident, in the dead of night. Destroyed Karachi port, tankers, oil storage dumps, all ships. They noticed Pakistani jets flying over them, but they didn't notice the ships. Karachi was under full naval blockade. Mission accomplished. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Not one of the major reason, it also one of the reason, India fought and executed as planned, it's a proper execution where the war was with in the matters of 2 week this shows the capability of Indian military. Ussr just helped India when USA tries to enter war personally. They holded them, as ussr is nuclear capable power usa thought it will be disastrous for them if they enter war. But usa, arabian countries, Iran , srilanka and China helped pakistan supporting them financially, with equipments and with providing staying stations. And one of the Arabian country helped pakistan with mig fighting jets also still India bravely executed the attack. It's an excellent planned and executed war from Indian military.

Indians never forget Russias help. But most Bangladeshis I've met support pak over us

But nevertheless Bangladesh wouldn't have won freedom , unless there hadn't been an invasion of East Pakistan by India . so the Indo Pakistan War of 1971 which lasted 13 days was a part of "Bangladesh liberation war" which lasted 9 months . correlate it with - It was the soviets who defeated the Nazis , but the opening of second front in the West accelerated Germany's defeat . It became the Indo-Pak war when the Indian Army entered. Before that Mukti Vahini was seen as the militant group in East Pakistan. If the Indian Army never entered then it became today's Balochistan.

Americans have evolved substantially over the last half-century. They are today, pragmatically and spiritually, kindred souls with Indians. We would love nothing more than to force our corporations that have set up shop in Russia and China to move their operations to India instead.

India will never forget that we have very few friends in 1971 but now everything has changed. Now the world need india, and intrest has all changed.🇮🇳long live india.

I would still say Pakistan soldiers were much more braver than the American-Afghanistan army who gave up without a fight. The forces had the most supreme war equipment that can be used yet they gave up without a fight. In 1962, when our army lost to china and china was coming in, yet the villagers of Arunachal fought with whatever utensils they had.

American government gave up, not the military. The military had the country largely under control before they left.

pakistan soldiers had no chance as india had numerical advantage and had cut off all supply routes and surrounded east pakistan from all sides, also the rebellion within east pakistan had taken hold. Yet manekshaw is on record saying that pakistani army fought bravely.

Akash Saha Americans have nothing to lose (except perhaps their"lives"), as it is not their country that they are fighting for. Afghans are divided. if they were united there would be no need for sophisticated American equipent.

This is a great achievement of the Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. She is truly an iron lady. Without any support from other countries, she leads the nation to victory. No other Prime Minister of India can match to the courage and patriotism of Indira Gandhi.

As a Bangladeshi, I am protesting and giving some corrections about this wrong interpretation. Basically, our freedom fighters (Muktijoddha) did the main things to win the war against the Pakistani army in the 1971 war. Yes, we agreed that the Govt. of India supported us with shelter and food but they also had an interest in weakening Pakistan. However, I tribute and salute all the Indians who supported and fought for us as well as all the Indian martyrs of this war at that time. I would request you, please don't underestimate our freedom fighters great contribution to the 1971 war. Long live Banglades-India friendship with the basis of equality. 🇧🇩♥️🇮🇳
