I agree with your comments on keeping lists. I do it all the time and it is very helpful to plan and complete projects.

You hit it on the head buddy. A list and a date of when you want it completed. Some times a todo list is forgotten then a week before the season starts you going around crazy trying to get all those wee jobs done. Keep making videos bud. Happy New Year Wayne

Welcome aboard!

I lived in an R.V. in Sooke Harbour Marina for 15 years before it was developed. It was amazing how many people launched their boats without the drain plug. The marina owner had drain plugs on sale at a very high price! I met a lot of American folk who came here every summer like clockwork for summer of fishing.

Hello Wayne, Great tips on winter thought process. I do indeed keep a list on what I am going to do in April when the shrink wrap is removed. Maybe you will do a video on dashboard gauges sometime, I need upgrades and nervous on attempting repairs. Be safe Be well

Beauty about living in Australia is our boating season is 12 months.😂😂Jack the trailer up and put axle stands under it so the wheels/tyres are off the ground to prevent flat spots on tyres and bearings.Great video.

I hadn't considered jacking the tires off the ground . I see people do that with big RV campers around here.

@@WayneTheBoatGuy We jack then up and cover the tyres to prevent uv from damaging them also as the Australian sun is relentless.

I would only add one more thing. If you live where there’s extreme cold weather during the winter months, jack up your trailer/boat and store it on jack-stands for the duration of your storage. This will prevent the tires from freezing in a not so round shape making them unsafe for that first ride to the marina and possibly loosing air while driving on them. The wheels are round but not so much the tires if they were frozen on the ground.

That’s a good idea. I’ve seen people Jack up motor homes so that all tires are off the ground and wondered why they do that.

Gald you did a winterizing video. I have always winterized mine every season before putting it away. I fog the engine and it always starts immediately when I get it out in the spring

@@WayneTheBoatGuy absolutely! I try to take care of it in October just before it gets to be really cold. You would never believe how much I have seen people's boats go to hell because they don't winterize them

Don’t forget to drain your fresh water tank. I drain it and put a few liters og antifreeze on it making sure it reaches all taps and the shower head. Toilets also need to be winterized 🙄

When I made this video there were no places within 20 miles that sold ethanol free fuel. We now have one marina that does!

Are there people who don't cover their boats in the winter? That would be one heck of a spring mess!

There's not many who don't cover their boats but I do see it. Primarily it seems to be new boat owners of older boats, people who procrastinate or the folks who plan to repair or sell their boat so they don't have it stored well.

@@WayneTheBoatGuy the ones that I've installed the directions said to mount it so it is 1/8 in. below the hull (bottom of transducer ). Also mounted level to the earth as it sits in the water. Has worked great so far.

PVC is much easier to use and better than wood because it doesn't rot for your tarp frame

Yeah but I was worried about it cracking when it gets really cold. How is it around 0 Fahrenheit?

Winterize for me is put jackets, extra clothes and rain suits on board.

@@WayneTheBoatGuy Don't be. Not like I live in the Bahamas or something. It doesn't freeze over and stay that way but it gets cold. If I waited for perfect days I won't be going very often. Still give bad weather and rough seas plenty of respect but if it's just cold and wet bundle up, put a rain suit over it& hit the throttle. The extra clothes are because you're still gonna get wet.
