Well, here you have finished building this shelter, which you also started building with your brother. And the house turned out to be not primitive at all, but rather intricate: straw, with a floor of sawn circles. I hope it wasn't as cold as it always was. All the best!

Shelter looks way more comfortable! I cringed at how close the fire was to your straw beds...if you build a hearth it will retain more heat and be better but, in any case, it's a cool shelter and I think it's awesome what you are doing. Be safe.

That‘s what I thought too… burning down while sleeping is not quite funny… emitted sparks causing a glowing fire after a while is not undangerous…Even as your hut is dry like tinder… by the way great video guys…be safe….greetings from Austria☺️😉

Straw is surprisingly not very flammable when bundled tightly. But yeah I'd put rocks just in case. I'm sure they would but in the winter finding rocks isn't always easy.

I certainly wouldn't have approved a fire certificate for the heating and cooking arrangements. It's rather like living inside a bonfire with the source of ignition inside ready to go. Not recommended and if this genuinely how they lived I have no doubt whatsoever a few died that way too.

A lot of viewers might not know but in Nordic countries for centuries entire houses were built without nails. Just relying on clever notching and wooden dowels. Those houses were built to last. Craftsmanship at its best. This little shelter is in that spirit.

This is the best shelter that you build it is not even a shelter it is a viking hut like you have in the name of the video! I have 2 questions were you having some problem with the smoke or it just went through the roof? And the second question what is your favourite meal when you are out on some adventure?

Smoke went out through the roof. Favorite meal is lightly grilled salted meat with honey and some fruit or potatoes.

❤Building a Primitive Shelter by Hand is Home is Sweet Home, my father had been building ever since we were visiting The Snow Forest in Norway. I can stay for many cozy days for this type of deluxe home by hand.

Excellent winter shelter. Looks very cozy and warm. Reminds me of my brother and I camping, although, we did use a tent. I’m guessing that it would not work in the rain, but I could be wrong.
