Went to Ghost Town in the Sky back in the early 60s as a 6-8 year old with my family, still remember it today, riding the chairlift, the old western town and the cowboy gun fights in the street. Thanks for this nostalgic episode, Trent. I remember that trip like it was yesterday.

Same! My youth group back in the 60’s took the trip to Ghost Town and Timmy was there from Lassie. I couldn’t believe how short he was LOL. It was so neat and even saloon dancers along with cowboy gun fights. We were thrilled. Why was it abandoned???

We love someone that actually goes to place to place and I am all here for it.

There have been several attempts at opening the park back up, but unfortunately, all have fell through. I am from North Carolina and went to the park many times when it was open. Maggie Valley, The Cherokee Reservation, and the NC mountains in general was our favorite family vacation spot. I am glad you and Millie got to enjoy the beautiful NC mountains! 😊

Man this brings back memories. Been there twice....in early 80s and again in mid 90s. I've still got pics throughout the western city....even got one with my two young boys with the gunfighters. And that horse and buggy at the beginning....yup got a pic of us on it. The lift up was kinda scary but not as bad as the trolly down 😮. Even have my little Maggie Valley souvenir plate with stand hanging up 😂

I've been to Maggie Valley many times. It's a cute little town. Riding the chair lift wasn't the most fun thing to do, in my opinion. The gunfights were fun to watch, and the food was good. It really wasn't worth the price of admission, and as most theme parks, things were expensive. Santa's Land Park was cute if you had kids. Millie is so sweet. She's an example that dogs her breed are not bad. It's the owners that are bad. She's very lucky to have you and you her.

Recently discovered this channel. I do not own a van or travel like this, but damn this is some awesome content and makes me wish I was doing this. Cheers and best of luck on all your travels and adventures man!

Kinda going off of your 'firetower gameplay in an actual firetower' video that you came up with, I think it would be really cool if u camped in and played some really well-made games like inside, poppy playtime, or little nightmares (all horror games involving abandoned factories) in an actual abandoned factory of some sort (each game lasts from 2 to 4 hours at most so I think it could definitely go viral like the fire tower video)!

I've actually been to Ghost Town when it was open in the 90's. They did the whole shoot out in the street and it was a pretty fun time. I never thought I'd see it on a KZread video so It's awesome that you got to explore it.

I love it that you say it's cozy alot. That is the main reason why I like these types of videos. Being in that van is cozy, especially when its cold outside.

I think that is the same amusement park that Mark and Digger of the show Moonshiners went to in one of their episodes. They used the Dream Catcher ride to allow barrels of whiskey to sway in the wind and age the whiskey faster. Anyway, as I watch you driving and walking in the snow and freezing, I have my air conditioning going here in North Florida where it's 75 degrees, cloudy and gray. Thanks for another great video and give Millie a kiss for me.

Hello Trent & Millie. I have a pit mix named Reece.😃I am from the next town over. I worked at the park in 1978 and 1979. It was something to behold. So in 2006 there was a movie filmed up there. Dean Teaster's Ghost Town. I worked as the cast and crew driver. Herbert Cowboy Coward and Bill McKinney were in it. We lost Cowboy Jan. 24 2024 from a car accident. He was a local. I knew him over 50 years. Check out the movie sometime. Thank you for visiting our beautiful area.

Back in 1961, I was only 11 when we visited Ghost Town. Our friend from Gatlinburg took us there. It was a fun experience, I remember the street gun fights. I remember we rode a tram up the mountain. Our friend's son was playing with a dog on the tram. I still have my souvenir horse shoe from there. Good memories of a fun day.

I live in NC it got down to 11 the other night. Also fun fact my husband hung off the side of the mountain and sandblasted and painted the roller coaster. There were plans to reopen but the people backed out after doing some work. I have heard some recent chatter of maybe someone trying.

I was born and raised in Cherokee NC for over 20 years. I remember going to Ghost Town when I was a kid. It was so awesome from what I remember!! It's so neat to see it on here being what it's called "Ghost Town".

I knew where you were going as soon as I saw the old roller coaster. I'm surprised the Parkway was open for travel. I've got old 8 mm movies, some in color & some B&W converted to DVD of a few trips my parents took us to Ghost Town In The Sky. There used to be a Funicar Railway that ran up the mountain below the chair lifts. It was a magical place at one time. Across the mountain is Cherokee. I bet you left before the storm. In Boone, NC it was 6° with a wind chill of -22°. You can still walk up there, but it'll take awhile. Appreciate the drone footage. We used to get 2-3' of snow every time it snowed. In '93 we had drifts over 9' tall, some bigger. You and Millie take care 👍
