Winter Rock fishing down south - Wollongong

check out Has's version of events video, he actually catches fish versus being good on the net!
• Bonnies and Insane Kin...
Spent another great day south of Sydney In Shell harbour with a few friends,
between us we worked small jigs to attract fish that we thought would be sitting deeper due to colder conditions in winter.
It was pretty slow fishing, between the 3 of us catching a fish about every hour, but going oput with a few friends makes it fun even when the fishing is a little slow.
between us 2 salmon, 2 bonito 2 trev and 1 king!
Gear that caught fish
-Majorcraft Solpara SSJ 5-30g 9.0ft
-Slammer 4 DX - 2500
-Daiwa J-Braid Grand - 15lb
-Daiwa J-thread - 16lb
Lure - 15g Slow jig $2-3 below

I receive a payment if you buy the jigs and appreciate every cent...
I spend all my money on fishing stuff

    It was a pretty hard day fishing but well worth the trip! Man those kings hanging around the bit of floating veg... I'm kind of glad we didn't manage to hook one while perched on that precipitous little ridge! Always just out of reach... 🤙

    Hey mate what landing net is that? I am looking for a telescopic but easy enough to be used from kayak

  • @cballzoutdoors

    @cballzoutdoors

    I just put the link in the description, the good thing with the net is the pole is of great quality, and you can swap out the net (which is OK but a bit small) for a Gaff or a better net when the time comes

    Hi Cballz question. regarding your 15 gram jigs. Do you fish them with swivel clips around Split rings? or do you tie the leader to the eye of the jig or split ring directly? just concerned split rings may cut through leader if i tie directly onto split

  • @cballzoutdoors

    @cballzoutdoors

    Жыл бұрын

    That is a valid concern about a risk you WILL realize if you tie onto the jig directly. the jig will wear through the leader in no time. For the light jigs I use a little egg clip thing off aliexpress and they seem adequate. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DnFVu1B for heavier jigs, say over 30g, they seem to open clips up and I use a swivel to the main line and a split ring from swivel to the jig.

    Hi Mr Ballz, Have you had any issues with the assist hooks on the 15g micro jigs? I saw a video where you could pull off the hooks by hand. I dont know if they were the same ones in your link.

  • @cballzoutdoors

    @cballzoutdoors

    2 ай бұрын

    I've never had an issue, but I imagine quality control could be an issue with cheaper jigs. I've heard bad things but never seen them myself. The other thing with heavier jigs, they can come with hooks more for demersal fishing and are way thinner than what would get used for trophy kings

    @@cballzoutdoors thanks. I forgot to ask, is the telescopic net still going, ok. I like the idea of setting it to various lengths. If one was handy, you could make a gaff hook for it. Would you still recommend one?

  • @cballzoutdoors

    @cballzoutdoors

    2 ай бұрын

    @DexterPalagiano yes the net is still going strong. There is a bit of a method too it to lift big fish, and you can upgrade the net with something bigger or a gaff if you are so inclined. My only issue is I always forget it!

    It's a shame that 300 Centrepoint sized wind turbines parked off the coastline are going to destroy tourism in the Illawarra forever. Thousands of local jobs are going to be lost. Vote Albo and Chris Bowen out before it's too late. Hydro, pump storage and nuclear are vastly superior zero emission power options. Save the Illawarra. Also fishing is awesome 👍
