    Another great video. Lovely looking plaice, hopefully it'll fill out of a size for the table before it's caught again. But I am going to stand up for the humble whiting, it gets a right knocking from UK anglers. The number of recipes for Merlan show just how good it can be.

  • @SaltwaterAngler

    Yes 👍 the whiting does give a good rattle too a least. A recent pole on the channel gave dogfish and silver eels a worst rep than the tings so it’s not everyone’s least favourite here. Thanks for your comments George

    Hi Matt. A lot of anglers now choose to put the rest at right angles to the beach as opposed to straight out. Any reason for that? Cheers

  • @SaltwaterAngler

    @SaltwaterAngler

    2 жыл бұрын

    That’s very observant . Often youtubers may hide a mark so having rods at a right angle would show what’s up or down the coast more when filming ? Shorter rods I prefer at right angles my self

  • @George_Salt

    @George_Salt

    2 жыл бұрын

    A lot of match anglers seem to do it. If you're sat at the foot of the rods it's easier to see a knock to the side then away from you. You'll probably find that if you have your rods pointing directly at the sea you'll choose to position yourself to one side of the rods for a clearer view of the tips - but that puts you further from the reel and you'll react slower.

    Nah if you wanted to catch fish in Brighton you have to go to Brighton marina I was there on Sunday on the East wall caught 3 plaice but once the fish were really biting the wall was closing around 4 o'clock there was pair of fisherman who I kid you not caught 30 plus plaice on 4 rod on 2-3 hook flappers using fresh yellow tails that they dug themselves the proof is on My uncles Facebook group which I will send what it's called
