    they work really well rune, time has proven that, i find the biggest problem in winter is finding them, you have to get your rigs right on the fish when it's cold and that's always been the hard part👍

    cheers danny, yeah the theory and methodology is sound and they definitely produce the fish where the bog standard 15mm boilie fails, I had to think long and hard about putting these tactics into a video, they are two of my best edges when i'm up against it 👍

    thanks mate, I developed these tactics on a heavily pressured water where everyone was doing the same thing, standard sized boilies either as singles or in pva bags, the fish got away with it an awful lot but these rigs tripped them up, they are well worth using on busy waters👍🎣

    Good advice mark really gives me food for thought for this winter as I’ve never scaled down for winter carp fishing in nearly 30 years but I have been persuaded now👍cheers Dan

    for years I never did either Dan but it actually works really well, for me it was always about using smaller baits and having to match the hook size to the bait size, I went down to 10mm popups and found size 10 or 12 hooks were needed to make the rig look neat. I found myself catching very well on a water called sandmere whilst others struggled with bigger baits and I've scaled down in winter ever since, I've done very well out of it too👍🎣

    Mark Carp brilliant mate,do you prefer shelf life or freezer baits? What’s your experience,cheers Dan 👍

  • @MarkCarp

    @MarkCarp

    4 жыл бұрын

    I've used both and made my own at different times dan, I can't tell the difference, modern shelf life baits don't have preservatives in these days, they are just air dried versions of freezer baits. I've always caught well with shelfies and have done for a long time now. I've very little freezer space so they suit me nicely👍 I do like particles over both of them though👍

    Mark Carp cheers mark,I think I favour freezer baits but I think that there far to expensive for what they are 12 quid kilo is daylight robbery☹️I’ve just baught some dynamite CarpTec Boilies £10-99 for 2 kg bag and they seem ok to me over a bed of pellets and get bites,but a lot of people try to keep up with the jones if you know what I mean👍

  • @MarkCarp

    @MarkCarp

    4 жыл бұрын

    yeah 12 quid is robbery dan, under £6 is ok, i'm using nash scopex squid myself, it's £40 for 5k so £8 a kilo shelf life, i don't use much of it though so a bag lasts me a year or two, particles on the other hand, I've gone through a few 20k bags this year and i'm most of the way through 20k of pellets too, that 60k of bait was only a few pound more than the 5k of nash!☹️ i've never kept up with the joneses mate, just look at my rod pod👍🎣😁lol

    I've never made these new rigs yet IE Ronnie rig twister rig bla Bla Bla. Mine are almost same as urs. I do always trim a 15mm boilie down but it's normally a pop up but trimming it Down turns into a water. I've great confidence now in my rigs. I use inline with a kicker at the front which actually helps cut down tangles. So yeah ur right basic can and still leed to help more bites with reshaping boilies. 🎣🎣🎣

  • @MarkCarp

    good stuff barry, I don't use those rigs either, the tackle industry always want to push something new onto anglers and if they're new or not confident in themselves they go along with it, it's no coincidence it takes a lot more bits (sales!) to make a Ronnie rig than the simple one we use, I just think they are fleecing everyone. like you I have confidence in simple rigs and I've used them for so long I trust them completely👍

    @@mplfc795 i gave up rolling my own in the mid 90's mate, i only ever did it when i was unemployed and cash was tight, when i was working i had less time to roll and more money to buy so i've just bought my bait most of the time. i've got a few baits, first is scopex squid from nash, it's one of the best boilies ever made and has a superb track record going back many decades, i buy those 5k bags of readymades which cost about £39.99, they've caught me a lot of fish over the years. second is dna s7, a mate put me onto this one a year or two back and again it's caught me plenty, definitely a bait worth using although i'd chose the scopex if i was forced to use one of them, purely because i've used it longer. my only other boilie is a tub of northern specials from ccmoore, i use them as single/attractor baits in winter and they work really well👍
