    Tony, as much as I enjoy you and your videos, please do not not risk your safety and well being just to make a video. You and I are no longer young men (I am 68 years old) and we just can not take the punches like a 30 year old especially with the physical disabilities that we all develop as we age. I think that you are a heck of a fine person and I want to enjoy visiting with you for many more years. 😊

    Seems like that Right On Trek meal is more of an animal attraction due to cooking in a pot. The calories seem to be more as well. Thank you for the camp out in the snowy weather. You are such an adventurous person but I do enjoy your videos. Thank you again for the smiles and adventure.

    I love seeing us old guys still hitting the trail. Throughout the years I've camped in some pretty extreme conditions. I was out in the blizzard of '78. I was in an Army surplus tent then. The wind was howling through the trees like a banshee and the trees themselves were creaking and groaning. Occasionally you'd a loud crack as a branch broke off and crashed down. At first I was kinda cold. Especially since I couldn't no fire going. But as the night wore on it actually started to warm up a bit. Turns out my tent was the basis for a snow drift. Good thing I had the door on the leeward side. I only had to crawl Thru a foot of snow. My tent was entirely buried. Turns out snow is actually a good insulator.

    I was always a tent camper until about 4 years ago and only once in winter, that was when I was in boy Scouts and it did not go well. Bought my first hammock at a military surplus store, a cheap jungle hammock that I modified into a bridge hammock and that's how I cut my teeth in hammocks. last year I bought a Clark jungle hammock and started to acquire other related gear for hammock camping but still have not ventured out in the winter, spring, summer and late fall is it so far. Yes it is definitely a learning experience, getting a good hang and tarp pitch took some time to get sorted out then you start throwing under quilts and adjustable ridgelines into the mix, in some ways tents are easier if you can find a big enough flat spot to set up. Good on you for stepping out and giving it a go and may we both continue to learn and grow into this experience. I will be following along, stay safe and have fun.

  • @randomadventures2.0

    Thank you so much my friend yes it takes a bit of a learning curve to get the right hang and good tarp set up I think I learn A good lesson that I need to spend more time on the tarp and run a continuous ridge line underneath of the tarp especially if it is going to rain and have heavy snow but again like I said we are learning on the Fly I Appreciate You and your comment thank you so much take Care

    Hint: Unless you really like espresso (too strong for me), you can use the Turkish espresso grind, and even espresso beans, to make a pot of regular coffee simply by using less beans. If you're not looking for espresso, the finer the grind, the less coffee you have to use. I have a subscription to Black Rifle Coffee, and sometimes they send an espresso blend. My first thought was, "Oh no, I hate espresso," but I found that I could make regular coffee simply using fewer beans.

    You have an absorbent cloth or something at the top tie line of the tarp. On those top tie lines of tarp and hammock and near the material entrance, offer the water away to gravitate straight down like a vertical absorbent drip wick to the ground. Get some help with gravity and material desire for moister, or maybe even a metal chain , something that has surface for water to collect but then migrate straight down. Yeah, tarp needs to be longer I think. Merry Christmas 🎄

    you are wild. excellent coffee and meal. i wanted to airdrop you in some hand and feetwarmers for your gloves and boots. where ARE your gloves? that transition temperature can be horrible when the mix is falling. i read an account of how the russian arctic explorers ate a stick of butter when hypothermia was threatening. instant fuel! those handwarmers the hunters use are great to slip in your gloves. us old guys need to keep the extremities taken care of. when i was in the boy scouts we did all our camping in the winter, the scout master knew we would stay close and keep the mischief down just trying to stay warm. never camped in the warm months. now it's luxurious.

    @@mycharmedunicorn8715 Hi there..well, I live in England & I usually buy my rubber hot water bottles from a store called “Boots” which is essentially a chemist type shop that also sells pharmaceuticals & makeup products etc. To use one you just boil a kettle full of water & fill them up, they will usually stay hot to warm for around eight hours if kept under the duvet..I also have a fleece cover for mine, you can buy them separately or they also come with the bottle sometimes..hope this helps! Keep warm! 🥰

    @@mycharmedunicorn8715 Amazon doesn't need me to help them drum up business but if you do a search for "hot water bottle" several dozen bottles will appear. They have covered or uncovered, rubber or silicone, rather plain looking or decorative, take your pick. Like the other lady said, just boil some water (tap water doesn't typically get as hot as you would want it to be, unless you have your hot water heater set to get extra hot), fill the bottle up and if you don't have a cover you can just wrap it in a towel (it can get pretty hot if it comes directly into contact with your skin) and it can do wonders to help an achy part of your body (hold it on your abdomen if you are having cramps) or just to provide some warmth in your bed on these frigid, cold, nights.

    Tony are you camping on a working trial? It sure looks like it, you should have went in a little farther, snow mobiles, 4 wheelers could come flying down this trial and hit you, I couldn't sleep on a trail or near a trail, hope you went home and got warm. I do prefer a continuous ridgeline, Tony. There are are good reasons for both… and concomitant compromises. Smart to rig that tarp first thing, nonetheless. Gives you shelter to do other things out of the weather. I’m thinking a tarp with doors might be in your future… a little heavier and maybe a bit more fiddley, but gives you more options in trying conditions. What hammock length are you using?

  • @randomadventures2.0

    @randomadventures2.0

    I think the hammock might be 11' but yes putting up the tarp 1st was good and I just wish I would have spent more time getting it set right but that tarp is hard to set I have never really gotten a good set on it since I've had it even the 1st night I used it in that snowstorm It was a little disappointing but we learn and I think the continuous I like better in the upcoming video this Thursday you will be able to see I use a continuous one with a pursixh knot
