How can you sleep without yours eyes shooting a waterfall

i dedicated this song to my dog who passed recently. She was small, quiet and would always sleep like a winter bear. i actually got a print of her paw before she passed and im going to get a tattoo of her paw and tae's 'winter bear' on my arm in remembrance of her. had her half of my life and we went through *everything* together. a week ago was 6 months since she passed and yet it feels like day 1 of being without her everyday. this song has helped me so much, i have no words for it and im just so grateful for taehyung and his music.

There's a theory by Korean armys that Winter Bear means his grandmother who raised him for 14 years. Tae always says his one wish is to meet her and talk to her again. Although he did not exlpain the meaning of the lyrics, to me it's very likely.. In the lyrics tae asks the blue parrot (an extinguished bird) to come fly to see him. You can see him keep walking backward, missing the childhood days when he was with his grandma. As the bear should hibernate in winter, he aks her to "sleep happily", accepting the fact that she has to "sleep" for now, but he wants her to wake up someday like the winter bear to meet him again🙏🏻

This song reminds me of my grandpa. he passed away about a year ago but I've been trying to stay strong for my mom cuz i hate to see her sad but as soon as i get a moment to myself i think of him and i cant help but break down. I genuinely don’t know how to explain the emotions I feel when I listen to this song. It doesn’t matter how many times I listen to it, I cry almost every single time. I don’t even know why it makes me so emotional but this is an absolutely beautiful song. I remember the first time I listened to it, I was hooked within the first 5 notes of the song and I’m not the type of person to fall so deeply in love with a song the first time I here it. It’s not a common occurrence so when my first thought was, “Wow.. This is gonna be amazing.” I knew I was hooked. I’ve read multiple theories on what this song could mean and I’m honestly okay with every single one of them. I can understand each one and they all give me both happy and sad vibes lol I think the theory that resonates the most with me is the one about his grandma, though. This song can be seen as something lovers might share with one another but the tone and the lyrics.. They sound so sad even though I know it’s based off of that proposal scene he saw. It could just be my imagination and that I’m in a darker place right now but the grandma theory is definitely not far fetched and even if Tae didn’t mean to make it about his grandmother, it could easily be applied to her. I don’t even know where I’m going with this.. All I wanted to say was that this song is absolutely gorgeous and I am so so so blessed to have been able to listen to and love such a beautiful piece.

Same on a number of levels. I already loved the song, but the theory about his grandmother gave it a personal meaning that we can relate or connect with. I don't get emotional from listening to music often and I just about cried listening to this. Not only the first time too, it doesn't get old. It's magical, and because the lyrics can apply to many situations we all have something we connect it to. Personally, I use this song to honor my dog who passed away in late November 2021. The lyrics and calm vibe really helped to settled some things with regretting and being depressed about his death. Winter Bear is absolutely gorgeous and I hope many people are able to feel comforted by its sound and uplifted by the one who wrote and performed it.
