ok first of all, your guys' programming is insane! did you even use odometry? any tips or pointers of how to go about what you guys were doing programming wise?

No odometry was not used. It was just pid drive movements using the integrated encoders and an imu with pid for turns. The programming was simple for the most part and the robot had a lot of tolerance for error which helped.
