In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you an attacking plan to win in the Italian Game which happens after the opening moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4.
The key idea of White is to play Bg5, pinning the Black's knight on f6, and then develop a strong attack on the kindside. You will learn 2 powerful attacking plans for White and a counter-attacking plan for Black.

Love your vids and your whole teaching style. Can I make a suggestion for a video? I am currently playing a game around 2000 level online where I think I pushed the wrong pawn in an endgame/ late middle game and it tipped the balance against me. I often get this wrong with pawns and it's costly. Video on pushing pawns in late game?

Yeah I like this idea because quite often it can be simple to reach the endgame with a superior position and material balance and still lose/draw. Perhaps a lot of it is experience and less about theory but it would be interesting to see Igor's take on it as I find his video's easy to understand and enjoyable to watch.

The problem is castling by black. Black shouldn't castle too early.

  • @ortialni7

What if black doesn't castle? Executing the plan works only when they castle. I'm the one endangering myself in other cases.

0:30 is a mistake. 4 knight italian is a mistake black should play Nxe4 and solve all of his opening problems, white cant allow this.
