So glad to hear someone not overreact to the PLD acquisition. It's a high reward low risk move. Dude has all the talent to be a 1C and the Caps have a tonne of salary coming off the books in 2 years. Really isn't as risky as people think and he's obviously not a locker room cancer if Matt Roy was willing to sign there.

roy was willing to sign there because they gave him the bag. PLDiva has all of the talent and none of the desire or effort. maybe the bag they gave roy is a diaper bag for dubois. i don't know how you can say he's not a locker room cancer after he's already quit on 3 teams. you tell me you want that on your team? he'll quit on you too. it probably won't take any longer than it did in LA, who still haven't addressed their goaltending issue. it's worse and more expensive. at least the caps got that part right. thompson is an all-star caliber goalie being paid less than league minimum right now. the caps may be a better team next year, and still may miss the playoffs. they had no business being in this year, and you saw it in just how outclassed they were against the rangers.

Detroit.... say that in 6 months. Walman hurts but he was getting stagnant we need space for Edvinsson and Johansson. Talbot is an upgrade over Reimer,Tarasenko is an upgrade over Fabbri. We get a full year of Kane, and two of a still talented Tarasenko. We've improved.

A lot of the projected lineups from other armchair GMs all have one thing in common: the Wings now have at least four legit top-six forwards. All teams are allowed to go over the cap until the week before the start of the regular season so I don't think Yzerman is finished making moves.

I really think Det is going to end up with addition by subtraction. As it stands now, they should finally have roster spots available for guys like bertagren Danielson, Kasper and Mazur. And Edvinsson and Johanson as you said on the back end.

Buffalo's signing were depth 3rd and 4th line players. Like stated the 3 players mentioned barely had more goals than Skinner himself. But as for Skinner's Career. He gave up more goals than he scored (minus 130 for career). Peterka has already surpassed him on the top line. And he's useless on lower lines. They could still use another Top 6 player. But with their depth and top prospect pool. I feel it's an addition by subtraction.

A team u didn’t mention who’s been quiet is the rangers, they have the same core as last season minus goodrow, they got smith and carrick, and they have some rookies in otthman and berard who each put up over 20 goals and 50 points in the minors, in my opinion they have the BEST odds for winning the cup, they didn’t subtract but they added, look out again same team that won the presidents trophy and got to the ecf didn’t lose any core pieces

My other favorite team, that you didn't mention, The Rangers were Losers (however, I have to give GM Chris Drury a bit of a Pass, given the fact that he couldn't move Jacob Trouba, who's Cap Saving would have likely gone to pick up a Free Agent). Detroit being a “loser” is absolutely incorrect. Walman is overrated as much as I like the guy. Simon edvinson is an immediate upgrade from him for hell of a lot cheaper. Yzermans plan was to not overspend this years offseason and have the young guys (one of the best prospect pools in the league) take the next step to the nhl this coming season. People who don’t follow the wings closely may not know what’s going on but for us Detroit fans it’s obvious. The goalie situation is odd however I can understand not wanting to leave Grand Rapids without a backup option especially if Cossa ends up getting called up this season. I’m still expecting a trade (Husso) at some point this season but we will see. Detroit is going about the rebuild slowly and the fact it took 3 years just to get our farm system up to nhl caliber compared to what Ken holland left it as is extremely good. I’m confident that more Raymond’s and Seiders are going to be coming to this team in the near future. Let’s go wings!

is walman overrated? perhaps. overpaid? yeah, probably. even so, when your team has chiarot, holl, and petry, walman isn't the guy you package with a 2nd to cut salary. walman is a guy you trade for a 4th and a 4th liner. and you're asking a lot of edvinsson to expect him to be a top pair dman immediately. you can't say you're not; no one else on the roster is even remotely capable of it, aside from seider. you have husso, talbot, lyon, campbell. you better hope yzerman has a plan to trade one of them, or you're losing lyon for nothing on waivers for certain. campbell will be on waivers too, but if he sees nhl ice this year, you're not making the playoffs. you might not anyway, as no one in that quartet is better than league average. on defense you have a future, but you haven't been drafting any top line forwards since raymond. kasper, danielson, and MBN are all middle six guys. you might make the playoffs, but to be taken seriously once there, you'll need another 1st line forward, at least. and competent goaltending, but you have that in your future, if not your present. one thing i keep hearing from you wings fans is how super awesome berggren is...and yet you never use him. he's your nick robertson, in pretty much every way. i see you signed tarasenko. okay...not sure it will help. this is not a better team than last year's team. you're still on the bubble.

Let me tell you this my friends, 'there are no losers in professional sports' only winners. Take Joe Pavelski for instance, no Stanley cups, 18 seasons, 86 million dollars earned . Now if that's the definition of a loser I don't want to be a winner.

why's everyone shitting on the stephenson contract? term's a bit longer than i'd like but the AAV is more or less commensurate with his production. there are worse players making a lot more. if he plays a solid 2 way game and puts up 55 points, it's fine. it's not a bargain, but it's not darnell nurse, either.

Meh on the Sabres take. Skinner was a defensive liability and extremly streaky. Although it wasnt free agency you forgot McLeod. Their bottom 6 are much more stable now. Does it make them winners? Probably not but the needle is closer to the middle.
