Brilliant track by a brilliant band... Simon is tone deaf if he can't give that track the thumbs up, I think he went off to listen to the whole album on Spotify.

Kip Winger and Company are better musicians than the people on here are at giving sarcasm.Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink.I have heard this album and have seen 4 videos…it is fire. Good for you,Kip. Keep going, pal.

i guess non thinkers wont get this song, its a very deep one and those who have no soul wont get it. not all music is just heavy riffs and crap lyrics. kip has stumbled on something special on this song, a very deep message. and i agree with many on this channel, you have to be tone deaf not to see how good this is.

Maybe Simon could suggest the next video topic or reaction?. Then you could put your feet up Steve. The video is a bit naff with the candles ( agree with Simon ) . The song is very catchy with plenty of strong elements i could easily grow to like. Will check out the full Album.

The old guys (and I am one of them) do not have the ear candy skills of younger bands. A riff like this could have been/should have been a mid-tempo banger. Instead it's a plodder. Not enough variance. There are attempts to do a loud/soft dynamic but too much compression (or something) sucked the lifeblood out. It doesn't work and I started looking at my watch after the super-plodding solo interlude. Ugh. I'm not a hater. A for effort but this will never be anyone's favorite song or album.

Thanks for the great comment. I haven't heard much negativity about this song or the new album but I think time will be the test. Usually after a good period of time the enduring quality of a song or album can be more accurately assessed.

Obviously you aren't a lyric guy right? You seem to make it sound like a song is just about the music??? Your last line - hahahahahaha - Jesus wept - go and read the comments under the official video... if you have the time...

@@Explorer766 the song is about his (Kip’s) Mental Health. He’s said in interviews before he struggles with a lot of demons and disabilities, pretty sure in one interview this year he said he’s basically bordering on Autism. The first verse is seemingly about looking at yourself in the mirror and not liking what you see. So maybe he also has some physical dysphoria as well. “Hopes filled with rust / dreams turn to dust / your words all spiked with poison” indicates he feels his hopes and dreams are nothing but far fetched delusions, and whoever he’s referring to with the word “your” (possibly a friend or significant other) tries to convince him otherwise, but he refuses to believe them (hence the poison reference, since no one would take anything w/ poison in it). The chorus contains references to extreme self hatred, guilt, and self punishment. I have been trying to discern whether or not the first few lines could also be a reference to self harm as well (would make sense with all the stuff about blood/bleeding). The 2nd verse continues the theme of self blame and the internal struggle of hiding one’s true self. The 3rd verse tells about a potential conflict between himself and another person, whilst also continuing to explore the ongoing theme of self-doubt, feeling trapped, and guilt. During the whispering part, you can hear the faint voice of a female counterpart. This represents someone trying to convince him he’s good enough, while he sulks (this supports the idea of the “poison” line from the first pre-chorus) After this, he sings “You once felt blessed / now it’s all a mess / voice screaming you deserved it” which is referring to his 80s/90s success fading, and a voice (possibly an inner voice or critics) saying he deserved the fall from grace. The bridge discusses about themes of disillusionment, questioning faith, and hopelessness. Then, the song ends by repeating the chorus and 3rd verse.
