We used to gouge with uptempo to burn out the d line's motor and then hit 'em with these formations. If they are to tired to blitz they probably aren't gonna be able to get the halfback. This philosophy made these plays way more devastating in the red zone.

We call him a Tailback because he does not lead block, is our leading rusher, and our best football player. Notice I did not say best athlete, best football player

in reality in a wing t system all the backs are just backs they all should be able to block, catch, and run, good teams will have at least 6 backs to switch in and out 2 at a time to keep legs fresh to grind the d line down.

This offense play gambles the unblocked defensive tackle can't make the play. All based on an assumption. Not sure I like it.

All pulling plays are based on that. The ball carrier should be nearly full speed when he takes the ball. With the QB in the pistol, there should be no way the DT should be able to make that play, even from a two point stance. If they do, they were either got away with a big jump before the snap, the ball carrier is slow or the handoff got botched.

It can happen, guess the cadence and your dropping his butt for at least 3-4 yards, or your hb is playing soft and not ready to play that position, and isnt going full speed.

Ah yes....guess the snap count! We LOVE LOVE it when they do that. I have game film of a NG who jumps offsides 13 times in one game, because we change our count when they start teeing off. There are counter plays off all of this, remember this is a 3-4 minute clip of a 120 minute DVD.

@@rickstewart5305 I ran my own version of this in the fall, using this formation as my base. The jet sweep was killer because we had speed and very quick guards, and a stud at what I called the pistol back. The trap wasn't always great so I'm going to block it a little different this year.

If the unblocked tackle wants to run into the backfield to chase the jet, he traps himself, so the trap will go for big yardage, especially Wildcat.
