So one guy jibes without checking approaching crafts downwind, and another guy wants to jump over him instead steering down or further upwind. Don’t they teach rules to avoid collisions in Wing class? There was a time (back when Windsurfing was the only sport) when rental centers demanded a basic theory and practice license before giving out the gear.

@@JonnyMcJonFace that’s what I suspected and feared. In Windsurfing courses they teach right of way, and other safety measures like checking for downwind vessels before jibing.

The yellow helmet is an idiot for turning without looking. It almost looks like the jumper jumped to avoid getting hurt (which I am not sure is particularly smart either). Overall, the yellow helmet is the problem here.

Both are are at fault. The yellow one for jibing without checking clearance, the jumper for.. jumping… instead of turning up or downwind, to create clearance. But feels like the jumper is not even aware of vessels in its way, he just wanted to jump

Learn your right of way rules, please. When a boat is overtaking another, the one ahead has the right of way. In the beginning of the video the jumper is way behind. He is responsible for staying clear of the sailor ahead.
