When you move slowly you are teaching your body relaxation and to switch off the muscles that aren't needed for the movement, this makes the practitioner faster because tension will only slow them down, you also learn the correct posture of the shapes through muscle memory

Why who told you that? Do you ever do it with dynamic tension? To tone the muscles like the Iron Body sets. Like a tree branch you push back as hard or harder than your opponent? Do you ever strike to wooden dummy with full force? So your forearms get hard and able to block a baseball bat if swung at you. Add Iron Palm to Wing Chung and you are a force to be reckoned with!!!

this is yoga for the office workers , circulation to the wrist really helps with carpal tunnel, and requires no feet moving so you can just stand up from your chair and start doing it inside your cubicle without move feet movement

you only need to be "relaxed" in and while the fight. and "relaxed" doesn't mean you don't have power. it means that you don't tense up your fist before it riches the target. in a more simple way "relaxation" means "explosion". being fast only needs to be relaxed and not tense. but being fast AND powerful (explosive) means that you bring all your tense right at the moment of contact. and this timing believe me is the hardest thing to do!when you achieve that timing you can call yourself "master"

very true, I've tried to do a punch comparision, I punched with full power from the beggining, then I punched only applying the power in the end, and like you said, it's explosive when applying the power only in the impact.

Yes your right, but there are things you can do to help with that. Like Yi Chuan standing and slow relaxed movements. If you keep doing that for a few years, it helps with that relaxed feeling and burns into your body from the inside out the movement.

Every fighter should know not to waist your energy being tense while fighting. To only tense up right before you strike your opponent. Even boxers learn to do that.

the 2 min 24 sec is how Ip Man taught it first but then Wong Shun Leung added the part at 2:46 because he felt that was useful. Then later everyone just did that part. This was the result of having gotten hit in a fight with a low punch . Originally in China both ideas were used in people's Little Ida form and it depended on how tall you were. every Wing Chun style uses both movements anyway.

Disagree, I attended a seminar with the Tsui Sheung Tin class in HK last year and they teach SLT differently, their whole training is based around that first form and they teach relaxation through slow steady movements. The Chinese believe the less tension you hold the faster you punch, of course you can do it with tension too for conditioning, but my original comment was to someone asking about the benefits of slow movements. Thanks though for commenting

I dont want to be a smarta..., but i dont get it why ppl still write the name as "Wong Shun Leung" in 2021. This was the way the name was written 50 or 100 years ago, but not today anymore. Its either in kantonese Wong Shun-leung or Wong Shunleung, or in mandarin Huang Chunliang. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wong_Shun-leung The Yale romanization has been overtaken by Hanyu Pinyin, which is more evolved and better understandable for western people. In chinese and korean the names basically consist of 3 single symbols, and they are written together without a space between them. If you translate them word to word it would be: WongShunLeung But this is not common in the west. But even Wong Shun Leung can be confusing since many ppl with think Shun is a middle name (like John Fitzgerald Kennedy), and the given name would only by Leung. Wong Shun-leung or Huang Chunliang shows clearly the 2 names Shun/Chun and Leung/Liang belong together which they do.
