Winemaking processes: Producing white, rose, red, and sweet wine + 10 WSET L2 exam-type questions

Dear Wine People,
In this video, we'll take a look at the winemaking processes taking place in the winery: crushing, pressing, maturation, fermentation, blending, etc. Depending on the order they are done in, or if they are done at all, results in the final type of wine.
This is the second of two videos on winemaking. Check out the first video on winemaking options: • What are the Winemakin...
And, as always, at the end of the video, we go through 10 WSET L2 in Wines exam-type questions on this subject.

Can you please explain the difference in making red vs white? It has the same picture in both but I'm not sure what the difference in the process is. Maybe a language thing since I'm Dutch.. 🙂

Main difference is the when the grapes are pressed (juice separated from skins). With white wine, pressing is done right away, before fermentation begins. With red winemaking grapes are in contact with juice during fermentation to extract color and tannin. Grapes are pressed on the end. Fermentation temperature for white and rose wines is lowers that for red wines, because for white wines aromatic is better retained with lower temperature, where higher temperature are beneficial for color and tannin extraction for red wines.

Ah ok, so with withe they are pressed right away and fermentation is later and with red fermentation is before the pressing.. Thank you for the quick reply!@@thirstyandwise
