What do you know he hates the competition and loves the one he's selling. Would be more believable done as a blind testing.

I don't hate the compeition. I want you to drink better wine. Wine with less sugar, wine with a soul, wine that opens the door to more exploration. Not grocery store brands.

The mass produced wines of the world generally are geared towards certain types of wine drinkers, where “smooth” is one of the important factors into them liking a wine. Hence the reason for a little sugar to round the edges over. I do not discount the popularity of these wines, however, I do find they lack personality and character, that for me, makes the wine world so interesting. I honestly cannot remember the last time I purchased and drank the same wine in the last couple years. I spend my money and time trying to find that next revelation in a bottle…..

Thank you for your feedback. We taste thousands of wines per year doing exactly that - looking for the next revelation. Sounds like we're kindred spirits.

Totally disagree with the absurdly exaugurated dislike of The Prisoner and in my opinion in a blind tasting you'd feel very different. Not that the Bennett lane isn't a better wine, but the overreaction here is unbelievably disingenuous. Literally multiple Master of Wine holders blind tasting The Prisoner on KZread who enjoyed it and felt it deserved the $50-60 price tag. This is just silly.

In an episode of wineking, the taster (who is a master of wine) did a blind and called The Prisoner a very good and complex quality wine. Upon reveal he didn’t backtrack. He acknowledged it as being very good and even worthy of the $45 price tag. So yeah this guy is not being genuine. I hope he changes.

The Prisoner has become the wine equivalent of bands like Coldplay, Modest Mouse etc. It was the cool wine to like until everyone started liking them and then they “sold out” and now all of a sudden suck. They become popular to hate by the cool kids.

We will do this... the wine has evolved over the years from founder Dave Phinney to the sale to Huneeus to today Constellation... it is here they changed the wine from Napa AVA to California AVA (not that it is necessarily bad). It's just not the same wine it used to be. There are plenty of better options out there. The point is to create a dialogue around the fact that the largest 5% of wine producers control 78% of all wine sold. And, two out of three bottles are sold in grocery stores. There are so many better wines to explore in the world. Thank you for the comment. I will take it into consideration.

Then those “MS’s” should have their status removed. Those are the easiest reds to weed out

Some constructive criticism from someone who actually wants to give your online store a shot. Your website is pretty interesting and you seem to have some well priced wines and a ton of talent on your team, but I'm hesitant to put myself in your hands with recommendations when you sort of scoff at wines that are universally liked (even by critics...also see your Caymus review). It seems as manipulated as the wines you are trying to discredit. In doing so, you are mocking your potential customer rather than meeting them where they are, acknowledging why these wines are so popular, and then educating us on the possibilities beyond these offerings. I've had The Prisoner and I thought it was good and still do...if not a little overpriced. Wine is a journey, I think you could be a better guide if you were a little more genuine. You're basically telling your potential customer they're stupid for liking a particular wine. Anyhow...hope you take this as it was intended...with no malice. It's from a wine lover who is still relatively new to the hobby and want's to learn and experience all kinds of wine.

Thank you for the feedback. I am very direct and that comes across in my videos. I am passioante about the wines I select but I see your point. There is a bigger opportunity than going for "shock and awe". Your feedback is really great. Thanks again.

Duckhorn isn't massively overpriced. Their Three Palms Merlot and Howell Mountain Cabernet is great and The Discussion is a fantastic wine.
