Windrock Park - Jeep Badge of Honor - Trail 16 and Trail 26 - Challenging Our Off Road Rigs

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Windrock Park has been on our "bucket list", to take on the challenge of acquiring our Jeep Badge of Honor badges this year.
Windrock has 3 badges:
Trail 16 is a level 7-8
Trail 26 is a level 5
Trail 51 is a level 3-5
Located just north of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Windrock has been one of the most sought after, premiere off road parks on the East Coast. Join me on our adventure to test my rigs capabilities and try and finish Windrock and earn my Jeep Badge of Honors for these trails.

Thank you very much.... This was a fun one to shoot. My first Badge of Honor trails. I'm usually a "overloading" guy, and not a rock crawling guy. This took me out of my comfort zone a bit and I LOVED it. We have another short overlanding trip coming up at the beginning of November. Looking forward to shooting that one.

Thank you Don. I have not been much into "rock climbing" in my Jeep adventures (I'm more into the exploring and overlanding adventures) but it was fun challenging myself and becoming comfortable to expand my knowledge of my jeeps capabilities when I am overlanding. Now in the back country, I have a new level of trust for my Jeep. I only broke one thing on this Windrock ride... I opened up a gap in my rear Diff cover, spilling out my Diff fluid. It was a easy fix and I swapped the cover out for a new thicker ARB diff cover that I know I will never have that problem again.

that is super awesome @@billcharlene1450 ...You'll defiantly learn that "Jeepin" is a lifestyle, not just a vehicle. once you get one, you'll understand the Jeep family (and you'll never own anything else). There are several different types of Jeepers. Rock Crawlers - those who go Hard Core on the biggest challenges they can find. While this is fun, it can be very very expensive (you are always fixing broken things and upgrading to parts that can take more abuse) Mall Crawlers - not a bad thing. these jeepers love modding their jeeps to the max but they rarely see a dirt trail (if ever). you'll see them at the jeep shows winning trophies for show n shines and crazy sound systems. It's about the art of the vehicle build. Overlanders - this is more my category. these jeepers love to convert their jeeps into a adventure RV, with all the capabilities to go off grid and sustainably live out of their jeeps for a short period of time. I would say, buy your first jeep and spend some time getting to learn about what your jeep can and can't do (based on your interest above), visit jeep shows, join a jeep club and ask questions before dumping ALOT of money on potential upgrades you don't need or are not quality parts. Jeepers will be completely honest with you, sharing their mistakes.

I agree with you... 16 is one heck of a trail. As a video jeeper, I was trying to handle 2 things at once..... Navigate my Jeep through 16 (which is already tough) and film 10 Jeeps on obstacles without causing too much distraction or hold up... this is what I ended up with. Now that I have accomplished it and earned my BOH, I would love to go back with a group, jump in someone else's jeep and focus on ONLY filming and take the pressure off of navigating my own rig.

I think your production and editing are top notch. I am amazed at how “difficult” this trail is considered by jeep ppl. In our sxs’s we go 2hi 99% of the way. The shelf near the end and the rutted climb just after are the only places I use 4wd on 16 even during a downpour. Not knocking y’all at all, just an observation on the capabilities of the two different machines.

  • @RoadRashOffRoad

You’re not knocking me. No offense taken here. Some jeepers don’t consider Windrock difficult… like the Black / Orange Jeep leading much of is called Ibex, he’s a rock crawler, always looking for REALLY CHALLENGING obstacles. To him, Windrock was a average. To me, I am traditionally more of an Overlander, adventuring and exploring the back country. I rarely do trails or obstacles like Windrock. I don’t go looking for these challenges but I enjoy knowing my rig “could” do it if the obstacle finds me. I had fun. Windrock is a fun park.

There is actually no way to "prove" it 100%. Jeep has an app for your phone that is GPS activated. when you are near the trailhead, you open the app and a "check in" button will appear. you push check in on the app. Once you complete the trail, you open the app once again and push the finish / submit button. that will let the app know you completed the trail. additionally, you can add photos of the trail like a normal social media app but it's not required. some people will get close to the trial and start the trial but not actually do the trail. then they will submit it defeating the purpose of accomplishing the trail.
