How did you get the J channel secured? Did you add any nails / screws? Or will caulk be enough to hold it? Looking to do the same on some replacement windows with aluminum siding and no current J channel. Nice work!

Nial it with inch and 3/4 roofing nails or flat head screws. Don't be like this idiot and try installing vinyl siding when it's freezing
